Suddenly, just as quickly as the monster had appeared, it was gone again. Deceit poked his head back into the clearing and saw Patton still comforting Virgil and Logan helping up a slightly injured Roman. Deceit had seen the whole thing, and he was surprised. He hadn't actually expected a fight to break out, or for them to get cursed. He expected the dragon witch to show up, scare them a little and for Roman to scare it off, he certainly hadn't meant for Roman to get hurt. The worst part was, he knew what the curse the monster had recited did, and he didn't want to be around when it took affect.

"I better get out of here," he whispered to himself, carefully slinking back to to the corner of the mind he called home.

Once the others had all regrouped, they looked around.
"Has anyone seen Deceit?"

"Probably ran off at the first sign of danger," growled Virgil.

"Well," interrupted Logan, "I believe that is enough adventure for today. I need to run some tests to figure out what exactly that thing did to us."

The others agreed and they made their way back homewards, Virgil keeping his eyes wearily on the sky. They could all sense it, even if they didn't know it, but something was wrong.
