Peter lay awake in his double hotel bed that night. He had come along for the journey, the excitement of a mission with his dad, but he wasn't ready for this. He wanted his Pops, he wanted to say sorry. Peter was sure his Pops had a reason, and Peter had betrayed him.

He had bounced around the room earlier trying to get rid of his adrenaline, but now the high was over and he was no longer king of the clouds.

Peter had been crying for a while now, eyes puffy and red. He would stop for a few minutes and think it was over until the wave would hit again.

So he just lay there, waiting for the next wave like a depressed surfer.

There was a knock on the door, 'Hey kid, can I come in?'

His legs were so heavy after crying for so long, he couldn't lift them off the bed.

'Kid, I have a keycard, can I come in?'

Tony heard a grunt and took it as a yes. He quietly opened the door to his son standing in front of him, really baggy jumper and eyes.

Tony quickly wrapped his arms around his son. 'It's ok kiddo, I got you.'

Peter just leaned against his dad, head against his reactor.

'Did I do the right thing?'

'Yes.'

'But I lost him, I lost dad.'

'We didn't lose him, he lost us. He chose his gallivanting over us. We still have each other Pete.'

Peter just nodded as his arms wrapped around his dad.

They stayed like that for several minutes until Tony noticed the kid nodding off.

'Underoos, I love you, but I can't carry you to bed, so you need to get off.'

Peter let go and trudged over to his bed before flopping down.

Tony was about to leave when he heard a faint, 'Dad?'

'Yeah kiddo?'

'Can you stay with me?'

'Sure.'

Peter rolled to the other side of the Queen bed as Tony lay on top of the rugs. Peter's arms quickly latched around him.

'I don't want to lose you too Dad.'

That stuck with Tony as he fell asleep stroking Peter's hair.

Peter had spent a few days dossing around Berlin, not focusing on anything in particular. He appreciated the history, and the sights were cool. The food was all super filling and delicious.

But all he wanted was to go home.

After Happy realised Peter wasn't so happy in Berlin, he organised the jet to go home and told Tony what he was doing. Tony told happy that he would meet him at the airport once he dealt with a few things. Happy nearly misinterpreted him from the noise of helicopter blades on Tony's end, but got the message after a while.

Peter was just staring out the window the entire time on the plane.

'Hey runt, Tony will meet us at the airport.'

Peter turned to face happy and smiled.

'He won't be happy if I didn't feed you right.' And pushed a ham and cheese sandwich towards Peter.

Peter are it slowly, his eyes looking out the window again, but his mind was with his Pops, wherever he was.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'What are you doing, a little video diary?'
Peter just nodded.
'It's all right. I'd probably do the same.'
Happy was shaking his head in the mirror, 'I told him not to do it. He was filming everything. I'm gonna wipe the chip.'
Tony was quick to stop Happy, 'Hey, hey, hey, hey. You know what? We should actually make an alibi video for your school anyway. You ready?'
Peter tried to keep a smiling face for his dad. He had had a nightmare the night after the battle and Peter wanted to stay brave for his dad. 'An alibi? Sure. Okay.'
'We rolling? Get in the frame. Hey, Principal.. Principal. How you doing? What are you wearing? Something skimpy, I hope.' Peter nearly burst out laughing. His principal had changed recently from someone Tony Called "suspiciously hot" to and old dude. 'Peter, that's inappropriate. Alright, let's start over. You can edit it. Three, two, one. Hey, Principal . My gosh, Uh, I wanted to tell you what an incredible job your student did...this weekend at the Stark internship retreat. Everyone was impressed.'
'Come on! It's a freaking merge. I'm sorry.'
Tony just shook his head at Happy, 'This is because you're not on Queens Boulevard. See, Happy is hoping to get bumped up to asset management. He was forehead of security, before that he was just a driver.'
Happy turned around to the back, his tone shifting. 'That was a private conversation. I don't like joking about this. It was hard for me to talk to you about that.'
'No, seriously, was he snoring a bunch?'
Happy quickly slammed on the brakes, 'Alright. Here we are. End of the line. Whoops.'
'Happy, can you give us a moment?'
'You want me to leave the car?'
'Why don't you grab Peter's case out of the trunk.'
Peter's eyes began to bulge out of his head. 'I can keep the suit?'
'Yes, we were just talking about it. I can't fit into it and it is technically your suit. Do me a favor, though. Happy's kind of your point guy on this. Don't stress him out. Don't do anything stupid. I've seen his cardiogram. All right?'
Peter nodded ecstatically.
'Don't do anything I would do, and definitely don't do anything I wouldn't do. There's a little gray area in there and that's where you operate.'
'Wait, does that mean I'm an Aven-?'
'No.' No matter how powerful his kid was, he wasn't getting Avengers status, that would be too risky.
'So when's our next-- ? When's our next "retreat," you know?'
'What, next mission?'
'Yeah, the mission. The missions.'
'We'll let you know'
'Ddaaaaaaaaaaaad.'
'Someone has school tomorrow, so they better jump out while I go speak to some diplomats and politicians, very boring stuff.'
Tony leaned in, and Peter gave him a hug.
'This was not meant to be a hug, I was just getting the door for you.'
Peter quickly let go, 'Sorry.'
'No I want a hug, just that wasn't meant to be one.'
Peter hugged his dad quickly and tightly before jumping out of the car.
'Bye Dad.'
And he went upstairs.
Two chapters in two days! What is this madness??? Since we all already know how civil war goes down I felt as though it was a bit of a let down chapter, also a burst of creativity hit me.
So, we are soon into Homecoming, and I have an idea for an original character, but I don't want to rush into this. I'm just curious as to how many would read a separate book (it would be quite short) on a separate character before I introduce them (also should point out they are wildly different to Peter and this fluff) Also appreciate the comments and votes, really inspires me to write! Thanks 😊 and hugs 🤗
