In Fair Verona

I walk into room 214. I just got my schedule this morning. I could've gotten it during exam week but I never did.

So far I've seen Auguste in Penny in my first class, nobody in third or second but now I'm in fourth.

Almost immediately I recognize Isaac's hair.

I walk up and sit in the desk in front of him and turn around.

"Casey."

"Yes, hi that's me."

"First time we share a class."

"Eight courses and finally," I joke.

Then the bell rings. The teacher wastes no time. I spin around in my seat.

"Hello class, this is grade twelve calculus and vectors. I'm Mrs. Fischer."

"Sebastian," she snaps. "Stop talking."

"Yes sorry miss."

I turn to see Sebastian on the other end of the class talking to some girl. Mrs. Fischer clearly already knows him.

"Today we're already going to start with a note so get out your iPads."

After that I zone out. I save the note to an app called notability and then switch to a sketching app and sketch on my iPad for about sixty minutes.

When there's fifteen minutes till she finishes the lesson she assigns the homework for us to start.

Chatter breaks out in the class as everyone 'does their homework together'.

I spin around in my seat.

"This is bad," Isaac says smiling.

"What is?"

"You're such a distraction. I spent half the period watching you draw."

"See this is why I sat in front of you," I smirk. "Half the time you write the note in advance anyway."

"Yeah I could've been done the homework by now."

"Yes. I'm sorry this is all my fault."

"It is."

I check my phone and I have a text from Penny.

Penny: want to hang after school?

I look back up at Isaac.

"Have you talked to Auguste?" Isaac asks.

"Yeah. He told me to shut up and pass him the cereal last I spoke to him."

"I think Ximena has some kind of doctors appointment."

"That's tomorrow."

"How's Gwen with it still?"

"She's still kinda mad. I can just tell sometimes when she around Auguste that she's upset. I don't think she's spoken to Ximena at all."

"To be fair I don't think Ximena's parents have spoken to Auguste."

"She came around for Grace. Sure she'd do the same for Auguste."

"Yeah but Grace is her favourite. Even still I don't think Gwen likes Émilie."

"Yeah I don't know when she'll be okay with it. Maybe once the baby is born."

"I'm excited to know the gender," I say.

"I want to know the name."

"Oh yeah Ximena said she'd figured out a name for both genders but won't tell me. Apparently it's a surprise."
