Erik led Christine beneath the opera house. As they walked down they sang, Christine started,

In sleep he sang to me In dreams he came

That voice that calls to me

And speaks my name

And do I dream again?

For now I find The Phantom of the Opera is there

inside my mind

Now it was Erik's turn,

Sing once again with me

Our strange duet

My power over you grows stronger yet

And though you turn from me to glance behind

The Phantom of the Opera is there

Inside your mind

Those who have seen your face

Drawback in fear

I am the mask you wear

It's me they hear...

Your/My spirit and my/your voice in one combined

The Phantom of the Opera is there/here Inside my/your mind

The pair made it to a gondola where he helped Christine into the boat. As they rowed across a chorus of voices seem to come from nowhere.

He's there the Phantom of the Opera

Beware the Phantom of the Opera

This was followed by Erik singing,

In all your fantasies you always knew

That man and mystery

Were both in you

And in this labyrinth Where night is blind

The Phantom of the Opera is there/here Inside my/your mind

He's there the Phantom of the Opera

Christine sang as Erik helped her out of the boat.

Sing, My Angel of Music!

Ordered Erik as Christine began to vocalize.

Sing, My Angel!

He called again. Christine went up an octave as she continued singing. She did this several more times. As she reached the end of her range he called loudly,

Sing for me!!!!

Christine let out an impossibly high note. She had gone higher than she had ever sung before. Erik went up to his organ and sang,

I have brought you

To the seat of sweet music's throne

To this kingdom where all must pay homage to music

music...

You have come here

For one purpose and one alone

Since the moment I first heard you sing

I have needed you with me to serve me, to sing

For my music

My music...

Erik trailed off as he looked at Christine. Then ever so gently began to sing,

Night time sharpens

Heightens each sensation

Darkness stirs and wakes imagination

Silently the senses abandon their defenses

A look of peace came over Christine's face.

Slowly gently, night unfurls it's splendor

Grasp it sense it tremulous and tender

Turn your face away from the garish light of day

Turn your thoughts away from cold unfeeling light

And listen to the music of the night

Erik turned and walked around to her other side.

Close your eyes and surrender to your darkest dreams

Purge your thoughts of the life you knew before

Close your eyes let your spirit start to soar

And you'll live as you've never lived before

Christine leaned into his touch as he stroked her cheek.

Softly, deftly, music shall caress you

Hear it, feel it, secretly possess you

Open up your mind, let your fantasy unwind

In this darkness which you know you cannot fight

The darkness of the music of the night

She stepped back and looked round in wonder.

Let your mind start a journey to a strange new world

Leave all thoughts of the life you knew before

Let your soul take you where you long to be!

Only then can you belong to me

Erik came up behind her and to his surprise she leaned her head into the crook of his arm which he had wrapped around her shoulder, his hand hovering over her skin. He swayed back and forth slightly relishing the way she melted into him. Touching him in a way no other had.

Floating, falling, sweet intoxication

Touch me, trust me, savor each sensation

Slowly Christine reached up her hand to the mask. As her fingers came in contact with it Erik pulled away still holding her hand.

Let the dream begin, let your darker side give in

To the power of the music that I write

The power of the music of the night

Seemingly overcome by exhaustion and the power of the music Christine fell limply into his arms. Erik briefly felt panic but upon realizing she was merely unconscious focused on the feeling of her light body cradled in his arms. He gently carried her to the swan-shaped bed he had prepared and laid her down adjusting the blanket before gently caressing her cheek and singing

You alone can make my song take flight

Help me make the music of the night
