"Jonathan knows where you are" Carters words race round and round in my head blocking everything else out, I had moved half way round the world to get away from him for nothing.
I can feel Boston next to me and can hear him talking but cannot understand, my mind is shutting down in fear.
He pulls my pliant body onto his lap and rocks me softly, his words trying to breakthrough, to bring me back.
"Aggie, come back to me please" I hear him whisper his mouth nuzzling my ear and then his lips are on my neck, nibbling, his hands lifting my face to his and his lips claiming mine, the sensation of his lips on mine makes me gasp and he uses that to dip his tongue into my mouth, the kiss pushing everything else aside including the fear. He pauses as he feels the change in me
"Aggie" he whispers
"Boston" I sigh back and his lips move back to mine, his relief pouring through.
"I'm never letting you go, I'll keep you safe baby, I promise, he won't get near you" he growls his hold around me tightening.
I don't know what this is but I feel safe with him, like I've known him forever, it feels right to be in his arms.
I relax in his hold and look up at James and Carter who are watching us "I'm sorry, that was a shock" I apologise.
Boston growls again "it's not for you to say sorry baby" he mutters glaring again at Carter.
"I'm tired can someone take me back to my dorm" I ask softly.
"No" Boston growls again.
"What do you mean no?" I argue twisting to look up at him.
"You're staying here with me, it's safer"
"Carter...." but Carter cut me off.
"Aggie, I agree with him, it's safer here, I've let you down and until we know what the fall out from that will be, this is the safest place for you" Carter agreed looking at Boston.
I could see Boston gritting his teeth and wondered what he would say next, it didn't look like a pleasant thought.
"Aggie, Carter can stay too, if it makes you more comfortable" he offered and I now understood the earlier facial expressions.
"I'Il stay for tonight and then we'll talk more " Carter agrees.
James leaps to his feet, "right then I'll get a couple of rooms ready, Carter come help me" and he drags Carter away with him, leaving me sat on Bostons lap in silence.
"How are you doing Aggie" he whispers in my ear sending goosebumps all down my spine.
"Fine" I gulp at the squeak in my voice, his use of my nickname warming my heart. He sighs and rocks us gently, "I know it's a lot to take in but I need you to know this is real, what I feel, well, in my family we have a legacy of falling in love at first sight, it's been like that for all the males for centuries, I watched my brothers and cousins fall and laughed thinking that would never be me but then I saw you, just briefly as you were leaving the diner and I knew, I knew you were mine, now I've grown up with this so I can accept you're it for me but I know it make take you a while to get you're head round things"
"But...."
"That's why I came to the party, I came for you and I think you can feel it too, something telling you this is right" he continued.
I sighed in his arms, he was sincere and I could only be truthful back "yes, I feel it, but it's crazy"
"Just go with the flow baby, it will all make sense soon, now lets get you settled" he lifts me in his arms and carries me upstairs my arms around his neck.
James and Carter are waiting in the hallway to say goodnight as Boston carries me into a cream guest room, pushing me towards the ensuite "go wash up and I'll get you something to sleep in" he tells me disappearing out the door.
I spot the stack of clean towels and packaged toothbrush and smile softly, feeling weary but knowing a shower would help I quickly stripped off and stood under the warm spray, replaying the evening in my head.
