PoV: Shadow

  Today was exactly like every other day, but... something felt off. I kept an extra Sharp eye on Sonic, just in case. What the hell is making me anxious? There's nothing different about today.

  DING!

"Do you think it's a salesperson again? Maybe they have sweets like the last one," Sonic moved to behind the counter. He did that any time the doorbell rang. He could watch who was at the door without being seen, "I hope it's hard candies, I don't like chewy stuff."

"We'll see," I opened the door and was pinned immediately.

"Shadow!" I heard Sonic shout. I saw him for a second before he hid again.

"Geezes Sunshine. You scared us all half to death," I sat up to find Rouge was the one who tackled me to the ground. The others behind her.

"Hurry up and get inside. Now," I growled, these idiots! Sonic's in more danger now.

"Where's Sonic?" Amy asked, "I want to see him, he back to how he used to be right?"

"Amy don't be heartless," Tails stated.

"Sonic can never go back to how he was. That experience was too much," Sticks lectured her.

"Shadow..." I heard Sonic whisper. He was in a kitchen cupboard now.

  I walked over to him and knelt down, "It's too loud isn't it."

"... yeah... I don't like it," he held my hand.

"I'll get them to quiet down. Do you want a box?" I asked.

"Yeah," he purred.

"Shadow, what are you doing?" Tails asked.

"I need you guys to quiet down," I ordered. I walked over to the storage room and emptied a box of books. This was sonic favorite one.

"What's with the box?" Amy asked.

"What's with your intrusion of our house?" I growled, "Sonic."

"Don't put me to close okay," he whispered.

"I won't," I held him for a moment and kissed his ear, "Do want your necklace?"

  He nodded. I grabbed it off the counter and placed it around his neck. Once he was in the box I placed it behind the coffee table, opposite to the couch.

"Why is he in a box?"

"For comfort," I replied as I handed Sonic a pillow to lay on.

"You think Blaze would do the same?"

"Don't be a jerk, Knuckles."

PoV: Sonic

  We had never had this many people in the house before. I knew I knew all of them, but it was still nerve wrecking.

"Hello," Rouge crouched in front of me, "Why are you hiding huh?"

"..." I didn't feel like talking yet.

"You hungry?" Tails asked.

"Maybe he wants water?"

  The entire day passed the same way. I got a lot of questions and I didn't want to answer any of them.

Shadow moved my box to the side of my couch so I could rest while they ate. Laura came home and welcomed them all, that meant they won't leave anytime soon. I decided to take a nap while they spoke.

  I woke up to hear a rustling outside. I walked into the backyard to look. I looked back, Shadow was too busy to follow me. I walked over to the Bush and got down on all fours. I didn't smell anything, just flowers. I leaned in closer to look around.

"A-" my mouth was covered by sudden hands. I pulled in, I couldn't get away.

  Shadow. Shadow! Please... help me. I felt hands all over me. Hearing a few clicks I was dropped. Glass... I couldn't move my legs, welded metal held me. My mouth was released and I didn't hesitate.

"SHADOW! SHADOW!" I shouted as loud as I could, I didn't care how much it hurt.

  Darkness fell over me, the cover my view, I couldn't see anything.

"Get the fuck away from him!" Shadow's voice...

  I was dropped and I felt pain in my elbow, I couldn't move my right hand anymore.

  Light blinded me and I shut eyes. I felt myself lifted, I screamed for them to let me go.

"Sonic, Sonic. It's me."

"Get away! Let go!" I wanted to kick them away, scratch them off me. They held me tighter instead.

"Shadow uncuff him!"

"If I do now he'll attack. He might hurt himself, I need him calm first."

  I kept screaming for it to drop me, it just kept squeezing me. I felt their heartbeat and warmth. It was starting to take my strength. I couldn't fight anymore.

PoV: Shadow

  Sonic was terrified. I could only hold him and restrain him. It took a while before he calmed down. When he finally did he opened his eyes. I carefully broke his cuffs off, his right arm was broken.

"Shadow... we have to take him to a hospital," Laura sighed.

"No, nonono no. He'll panic, their clothes are too similar," I carried him back to our bed, "have a house doctor sent... no, that'll be worse."

  I looked at him. He was awake but quiet. Not moving, his body was in shock.

"We can't, what if the bone is shattered?" Laura placed a second necklace around him, "Once he's asleep, it's our safest option."

"Alright," I laid next to him, carefully watching his eyelids fall over his eyes.

  I'm sorry, I kissed his forehead, I should have paid more attention to you. I knew those idiots would bring trouble. I'll keep you safe Sonic. I'll make sure there's never a next time.
