PoV: Shadow

"Shadow, are you sure about this?" Rouge asked, "Sonic hates it when you leave the room."

"Rouge, just watch him for me. This is the only way to protect him from Eggman. He's asleep right now, just hold him when he starts shifting and don't make any noise. I know he won't wake up for a while. Just watch him," I instructed her, "If he wakes up you can distract him with a toy or food. Tails will help is he has a night terror."

"Just don't let Eggman catch you," she said.

"I'm going to kill him anyway, doesn't matter how I shoot him," I left her with a chaos emerald to protect the house, "Chaos control."

I was quiet when I landed in Eggman's base. I snuck around until I found him snoring. It was my chance to kill him at point blank range.

PoV: Rouge

This turned into a strange night. Sonic started shifting, so I laid down to hold him and he rolled over me. He was on my stomach. Relax, you're just doing this so Shadow can decapitate Eggman.

"Shadow..." Sonic was talking in his sleep, I almost lost my shit. I hadn't heard him talk in so long, and Shadow was his first word.

"He'll be right back. I promise," I kissed Sonic's forehead and he nuzzled into my chest, "Shadow, you owe me for this."

PoV: Shadow

  I pulled the trigger and it was over. Eggman was dead and gone. I left, this had only taken a few seconds to do. I returned to my room, Sonic was nestled into Rouge's cleavage, the same way he cuddled into his pillows.

"You own me for this," she whispered.

"That he mistook your boobs for a pillow? He loves soft things, think of it as a compliment," I picked Sonic up he woke up.

"... Shadow..." I almost dropped him as he fell back to sleep.

"He's talking, but so far... he's only said you name," Rouge said as I laid him down again.

"I know," I kissed his cheek, "this isn't the first time."

"I'm sure he'll be back to normal soon," she patted my shoulder.

"He'll never be back to normal. There's always going to be something different," I cover Sonic in a blanket.

"I'll be back in the morning," she left and I was alone with Sonic.

  Sonic was healing, walking just like he used to. He even started wearing his kimonos again, but one things was definitely different. He only ever spoke to me. No matter who asked him, it was always me he'd answer to.

"Sonic, anything you'd like for lunch?" Amy him.

  He just stared at her.

"Sonic, what do you want to eat?" I asked.

"Rice..." he answered.

"Fried or plain?" I said as Amy glared.

"Fried," Sonic smiled, anything he did... it was only for me. Around anyone else he said nothing and hardly ever smiled.

  It was all over. Any villains after Sonic were now dead, and Sonic was as healed as he was ever going to be.

--- Two Years Later ---

"Shadow!" Sonic called me down to the now expanded yard. His gardening making us all a fortune from his insanely flavorful crops, "come down!"

"What are you doing cupcake?" I kissed his cheek.

"The strawberries are ready," he stick one in my mouth, it was the sweetest strawberry I ever had.

"Delicious," I kissed him.

"So, we live here forever," he smile.

"Until G.U.N moves us," I said.

"Well, I do," he kissed me.

"You do?"

"Mmhmm," he smiled, "do you?"

"I do," I tossed him up and he laughed.

"Call me your wife from now on."

"My little wife."

  We kissed as we dance around in the grass. Our life to two years was this, and for how ever much longer Sonic lived. This was us. The broken glass that was Sonic's mind, it could finally heal in peace.
