|12| A Shocker for breakfast.

As the alarm rang sharply at 8 a.m., Anushka, who had been peacefully sleeping, was jolted awake by the piercing sound. Groggily, she blinked a few times, disoriented, as her dream of a thrilling adventure with Robert Langdon began to fade away. She had been happily lost in that dream world until the harsh reality of the alarm shattered it. With a scowl on her face, she slowly sat up, casting an irritated glare at the offending alarm clock. It wasn’t the poor clock’s fault—it was doing exactly what she had set it to do—but at that moment, all her frustration was directed toward it.

Anushka continued to glare at the clock as if trying to silence it with her eyes. However, she was interrupted by the sound of her phone ringing from the bedside table. Startled, she reached over to check the caller ID. A smile crept across her face the instant she saw the name on the screen—Virat. Her annoyance faded away as she felt a sense of warmth spread through her.

Without wasting another second, she answered the call, her voice laced with joy. 
"Hey, Vir!" she greeted, her smile audible in her tone. "Good morning."

"Good morning," Virat replied, his deep voice making her heart flutter. For him, hearing her voice was the best part of the morning. It was only after hearing her that his day officially felt like it had begun.

Anushka, still a bit sleepy, started to ask him, "What’s up? Why are you up so early—" but she caught herself mid-sentence, realizing who she was talking to. Of course, Virat wasn’t just anyone; he was a billionaire with endless responsibilities, not some ordinary guy with a simple 9-to-5 job. She laughed softly, shaking her head at her own silly question.

On the other end, Virat paused for a moment, confused about why she had trailed off. He wanted to ask what she was going to say but decided against it. He didn't want to press, understanding that if she wanted to continue, she would. Instead, he switched gears.

"Do you have any classes today?" he asked casually, effortlessly steering the conversation to safer ground.

"No, not today. My classes start on Monday," she replied, grateful for his tact in avoiding what could have been an awkward moment. "It’s Saturday, after all."

"Perfect," Virat said, a slight smile evident in his voice. He felt a flutter of hope rise in his chest. "So, what are your plans for today?" He was hoping, wishing that she might be free. Maybe, just maybe, she’d agree to spend the day with him.

Anushka sensed where this was going and couldn’t help but smile again. She liked the idea of spending time with him and was excited about where things could go between them.

"Would you like to go out with me today?" Virat finally asked, deciding to take the plunge. His heart pounded in his chest as he awaited her response.

Anushka's smile widened. Even she had been secretly hoping for this invitation. "Yes, sure," she replied, her voice soft but filled with excitement.

Virat felt like doing a victory dance. He was thrilled that she had said yes. 
"How about 1 p.m.? We can go out for lunch, and maybe take a drive afterward?" he suggested, keeping his tone light.

"Sounds good to me," Anushka agreed.

With the plan set, the two of them chatted for a while longer, exchanging playful banter before finally hanging up. As Anushka put down her phone, she couldn't help but feel a surge of anticipation for the day ahead. Her mood had improved drastically since waking up, all thanks to Virat.

Pushing herself out of bed, Anushka stretched her arms above her head before making her way to the bathroom. She completed her morning routine in a quick 15 minutes, freshening up and slipping into something casual for lounging around the house. She hung her bathrobe and towel out to dry on the balcony before heading back inside to comb her hair and apply her usual lotion and moisturizer. Once done, she felt fully awake and refreshed.
