I sat back as I watched my best friend, Nancy Wheeler, snuggle and cuddle up to the boy I liked, Steve Harrington.

It got harder and harder each day I saw them together, because they got closer each day, and my feelings grew deeper.

I tried to stop them. Nancy is happy, I cant jeopardize that!

"Hey, y/n, can you get Steve and I a can of cola please?" Nancy said as she turned to me, Steve's lips connected to her neck.

I nodded, getting off the couch and turning off the tv. I ran to the refrigerator, opening it and grabbing out a can.

"Y/n!" I heard my brothers voice from downstairs.

I rolled my eyes, setting the can on the table before heading down the basement.

"Hey guys, Max, El." I nodded to them, getting returned smiles.

My eyes caught Will's and I raised my brows, "What's up?"

"When are you going home?" He asked softly.

I shrugged, "After you, I guess."

He nodded, "I'll tell mom you'll be in after me then."

I smiled, "Ok. Bye guys!"

"Bye y/n!" I heard Max whisper-yell as I closed the basement door.

I heard other voices now. Harsh ones. It was Nancy and Steve from the living room.

"And you can't even support me for that?" I heard Nancy say.

"No! Of course not! You're telling me you gave another guy that isn't me your home number?" Steve shot back.

My mouth stayed open, "Holy shit." I whispered.

Would Nancy do that? Why would she do that?

I decided to get a can of cola out for myself in the kitchen, but debated walking back in with Nancy's. I tapped my foot on the floor, biting my lip.

"Leave then, Steve! Just leave!" Nancy yelled, and I winced.

I could almost see Steve shaking his head.

I walked into the living room the same time he stepped out, accidentally barging into him and knocking the two cola cans out of my hands, the cola spraying all over the floor.

His eyes widened, and he glanced back a Nancy before bending down to help me.

"Shit. I'm -I'm so sorry. I didn't mean it, I swear. It's just-"

I put a hand on his shoulder, ignoring the glares Nancy shot my way as I looked into the poor boy's eyes. They were glossy and ready to spill some tears, alright. "It's fine, Steve. Really. I think you should leave." I mumbled the last part.

He nodded, "See you at school then?"

My mouth dropped, "Uh. Uh, yeah. Sure."

I cleaned up the rest of the cola and put the cans in the bin, before walking into the living room and spotting Nance on the couch.

I sat down next to her, "Did you do it, Nance?"

The next day at school, I roamed the halls, on my way to my locker, when I noticed a note sticking out of it.

I frowned, opening it. My eyes widened at what it read.

"Meet me in the gym.
- Steve."

What in the world?

I decided to stuff the note back in my locker and go anyway. Maybe he'd apologize to me about the cans?

I tugged on my bag straps, anxious as I walked into the gym. There was no one there, and I debated walking back out, before I heard his voice.

"Y/n."

I moved my head to face him, seeing him situated behind the bleachers .

I smiled, glancing around, "What's up?"

Steve moves from behind the stand and walked over to me, hands in his pockets and head down.

"Steve?" I asked when he stopped in front of me.

He looked at me, "Yes?"

"W-What did you call me here for?" I stuttered.

"I think I chose the wrong girl." He muttered, looking into my eyes.

"Ok, then go find a new one." I shrugged pretending not to have a care in the world.

He nodded, "I already have."

I nodded too, "That's really good, Steve. Who is it?"

I bit my lip.
I can't like him.
I can't like him.
I can't like him.

"I'm looking at her."

I like him.
