Eliabeth's P.O.V"What in the name of Poseidon do you think you're doing?"
Kai's eyes widened at the scene before his eyes. He quickly swam towards Elizabth and the other merman.
"I-I'm sorry! I was f-forced to!" the merfolk said. As Elizabeth removed the mask that they had on she soon discovered it was a mermaid, around 13-14 years old.
Upon getting a good look at Elizabeth the mermaid burst out with wide eyes, "You're Elizabeth! The mermaid princess! A great fighter and a descendant of Poseidon!" The young mermaid stared up at her with fear, but also admiration.
Elizabeth panicked, quickly running over her options in her head. She could lie, tell the young one she was mistaken, or admit to her and Kai, hoping he would still believe yet another lie she would have to come up with... as well as running, that was always an option.
"Ok, yes, I am, but I left the palace almost two months ago! Alright! I was done with being told what to do, I wanted freedom..." Elizabeth simply decided to tell the truth... some of it at least.
She turned to Kai, "I'm truly sorry for lying, but I know of you, and wanted to maybe stick around but I knew you wouldn't trust me if I told you my actual identity."
Then turning back to the mermaid she said "Who sent you here to hurt us, since you only just recognized me, you had to be targeting Kai... But why?"
Kai's P.O.V
Kai stiffened. She was right, he wouldn't have trusted her. But that didn't matter right then. There was a person that had come to kill him. Kai knew he had many enemies, thanks to his many heists. Any one of them wouldn't have a second thought abut sending someone to kill him.
Had word already gotten around that he had stolen the Trident? Impossible.
Kai came closer to the young mermaid, the crazy glint in his eyes back again. "So," he pulled the mermaid's mask, pulling her up with it, "want to tell me who sent you, sweetie?" His words were soft, but in his tone, they were threatening.
"I-I—"
Kai was jolted out of his spell by Elizabeth slapping him, following his orders from before. "Don't get mad, you told me if you acted off to do that," she said shrugging.
Kai dropped the girl, a frown on his face. "I didn't mean HARD," he grumbled, rubbing his cheek.
"You didn't specify," Elizabeth laughed, before turning back to the mermaid. "Please help us, I don't want this Seaweed brain here getting killed..." She glanced back at Kai before turning her head back to the mermaid as she started talking.
"I don't know the name of who wanted me to do this, or even what they look like, just that they threatened to kill my family if I didnt do it!!" The young mermaid started tearing up, obviously upset. Elizabeth sighed, "just tell them Kai is dead, he might not make it with me anyways... he might be so annoying, I kill him." Her face produced a small smile as she looked at Kai.
Kai's frown turned into an annoyed look. How could she be so nice to someone you could have easily shot him? He turned to the merman who still looked oddly familiar. "Why are you still here?" He said bluntly.
"O-Oh," the merman in uniform stuttered, "Do you need protection, Elizabeth?" he said, looking at her.
She shook her head quickly. "Go back to the castle."
The merman's Adam apple bobbled as he swallowed, seeming conflicted. Kai couldn't help but scoff to himself. What right did this guard have to worry about a princess that had left the castle? Kai's breath caught as he realized that neither did he. Abruptly, he shook his head, trying to clear his odd thoughts. The guard hesitantly left, but keep casting glances back, as if to make sure the little mermaid wouldn't hurt them when his back was turned.
