We stopped in a huge parking lot. It only had a few cars, but there were other parking lots, too, so there probably were other people. My mom parked the car and we ran to a huge stadium building. We had to be one of the first ones there, after all, even though examinations didn't start for another 45 minutes.

When we got inside the entrance building, my jaw dropped. There already was a huge line that snaked across the room! I instinctively put my hair in front of one eye, squeezing my shoulders as if that would make me invisible. I hope examinations are quick...

We got into line, I 'shrunk' even more, keeping my head low.

Sipping my water, my mind began wandering off as I thought of the entrance exam.  Better prepare as much as I can. After all, no one knows what the school will do for examinations this year.

At first we just stood there in line. Then my mom pointed out a sign near us. All adults must go to the stands. "Gotta go, honey, so I don't get into trouble," she stated as she hugged me, as a sign of wishing me good luck, leaving me alone and feeling very insecure, sipping water, holding a paper, in a long line.

At first I tried to calm my nerves, but it didn't help. I reached for my phone. No WiFi. Are they trying to torture us? I sighed, it was hopeless. So I just drank some water, looking around me. I was in a large conference-style room with cement floors and walls painted in a very dull shade of gray. At the front of the line there was a stage with a microphone, but it was empty.

I sighed yet again, bored, before taking notice of the girl pacing in front of me. She was maybe a couple inches taller than me, with reddish brown hair and huge bird wings. Her wings reminded me of the hero Hawk, who as I thought about it, kind of looked like her. She was pacing back and forth, with a worried look on her face.

I decided to try to talk to her. I tapped her on the shoulder and she jumped, startled. I tried to smile at her, but I couldn't. Why am I doing this? I'm too shy. Well, too late now, I guess. "Sorry. Um, I just thought you looked really nervous, and, uh, thought I could try to calm you down a bit," I mumbled, avoiding her eyes.

To my surprise she responded, "Oh, thanks, I guess I could use that," she smiled at me. "I'm Harper by the way, Harper Redwing," she held out her hand.

I shook it, "I'm Alex Mariner, nice to meet you," then I remembered something, "by the way, you kind of look like the hero Hawk. Are you related?"

"Um, yeah, he's my dad," she said nervously. She thinks I will treat her differently because her dad is a hero.

I smiled at her, "Don't worry, my uncle's the hero Firefighter. If your worried about me treating you differently, don't worry, I can relate." Don't think about it don't think about it. I couldn't help it. My eyes started to water up. I quickly wiped away my tears, trying my best to show no emotion.

At this she looked up, but thankfully didn't notice the expression on my face, "Really? I guess I shouldn't be so worried then. So, what are you into?"

A.N.- so a bunch of the characters are also gonna be my friend's OC's like Harper. Also, If a lot of the OC characters seem to be Percy Jackson or Harry Potter references, they are. As you may have guessed,  Harper is based off of the Harpy, Ella, from the Heroes of Olympus series.
