3. Examination

As we talked, a woman came up onto the stage with a bunch of drones, in an astronaut-like suit (A.N. no, it's not 13). It was the tech and space hero, AstroTech (A.N. I couldn't think of anything.). During her time at White Star Academy, she was sorted into the support course, because of her quirk of being able to build any type of robot. She became a hero anyway.

One of her drones picked up the microphone and held it to her face as she took off her helmet.

"Attention examinees! I will now be giving you all information about the examination that you will all soon go through!" she said with enthusiasm.

She pointed to the door on our left, "the first person will go through this door, and get their quirk examined with Hawk. Then they'll go with Mind Reader to get their IQ checked. Lastly, they'll be with me to see if they can identify simple machine parts. If you score well in at least one area, or do well overall, you have a chance at being accepted." she paused for a moment, then a drone tapped to her in Morse code. "Oh! I almost forgot. When the first person is done with Hawk, he will call over the next person in line, and so on. Principal Truth will be watching from the stands. When you are done with exams you will re-enter the room through the door on the right, and out the door you all came from."

Principal Truth is the principal, her quirk is to convince people to tell the truth. Pretty straightforward.

AstroTech then exited the stage, behind the curtains. The door to our left opened and Hawk peeked out. "First up!"

A scared looking boy with dark hair crept towards Hawk, and handed him his paper. Hawk took it, and they both disappeared behind the door.

I tried counting the time until the next person in line was called. 2 minutes. Next person. 3 minutes. I sighed. This is like waiting for your favorite ride at an amusement park.

🦄🦄Le magical time skip🦄🦄

We moved up yet another place in line. Almost there. Just then Hawk peeked his head through the door, "Next!"

Harper walked up to the door casually, handing him the paper, "Hi dad."

This caught the attention of some people in line behind me. I heard them whisper things like, "Dad?" And, "Who said that?" But I ignored them, shaking my head. She's just another person, like you and me.

Finally it was my turn, "Next!"

I hesitantly walked up to the door and gave him my form, and went through out to the stadium. The sky was orange and red, the sun just peeking at us from over the horizon. There were many excited parents in the stands. I saw my mom as she waved to me, and I waved back.

"Please go inside the cones," Hawk instructed.

I looked around for what he meant. There was a large circle of traditional yellow cones about 20 feet wide. I walked in and stopped in the middle, looking over at Hawk, who was peeking at my form and back at me.

"Hmm, I assume you you were drinking water in line? Let me see what you can do."

I nodded, taking a deep breath. Then I imagined all of the water molecules in the air coming together. I felt the air become dry, as a small blob of water, enough to fit my head inside, formed in front of me. I imagined boiling water on a stove, and the water in front of me began to steam. Then I imagined putting the boiling water into a freezer, and coming out as a popsicle. I felt the water in front of me compress together and become colder, eventually becoming three sharp icicles. I threw my arms out, and the icicles embedded themselves into the three cones in front of me.

I looked over at Hawk, scared of what he would think and bracing myself for the worst. But instead, he looked impressed. He was nodding his head and writing on a clipboard. A superhero taking notes on a clipboard. Never thought I'd see anything like that.

He looked up at me, "very good, you demonstrate advanced control over your power. Please go to Mind Reader at the next station."

I let go of a breath I didn't even know I was holding, and walked over to the next circle of cones. Where Mind Reader was waiting for me.

Mind Reader looked like one of those voodoo fortune tellers, with drapes as clothing and a crystal ball that she never actually used. I guessed she was going for a creepy look, and it suited her well. She talked mysteriously and you couldn't see her eyes, even if you somehow got a peek under her hood.

She seemed to look up at me, and opened her mouth, "Hello my dear, may I look into your mind? Don't worry, I won't go far."

I nodded, closing my eyes and bracing myself for someone speaking in my head, or bad memories resurfacing in my mind.

Surprisingly, nothing happened, which was scarier than what I was getting ready for. I looked at her. She was now writing on her clipboard, which looked even stranger than Hawk with his clipboard. This keeps getting weirder. If I get accepted I bet this won't be the only wacky thing I'll see.

She nodded, "an exceptionally quick thinker and predictor. An IQ of 137, mhm, mhm. A bit moody and easy to anger, but that can be fixed easily. You would do well in the business course, but your quick instincts would be better fit for a hero. Please move on to the third station, and may the odds be ever in your favor."

In the third circle, there were a bunch of machine parts that I had never seen in my life. I thought they said these would be basic.

time skip to after the third test is finished because I do not know anything about machinery. 😅

I walked back into the room and sighed. Well, I did horribly at the end. I had used words like 'thingy' and 'doohickey' when describing what the pipe or wrench or whatever I had in front of me. AstroTech ended up sighing and shaking her head. "Not a support person at all." Those words replayed in my head. I want to be a hero anyway. Why would I need to know machine parts?

 "So, how did you do?"

I looked up to see Harper gazing expectantly at me. "Well, I think I did well on the first two parts of the exam, but I did horribly at the end. It was so hard!"

She looked at me, tilting her head, confused, "really? I thought it was pretty easy. I think I did well on everything, but I can't make any promises."

I saw my mom waving at me through the glass door. I smiled at her, "Well, I've got to go now. Maybe I could have your number?"

A.N. So that's chapter three. Really long, at least longer than the other two. I couldn't think of a better way to end this chapter... so... uh... bye guys!
