I stepped outside of the bus, stretching. The warmth took over. It blanketed me with joy. I casually strode over to the office building, feeling refreshed after being in the stuffy bus.
Then I was brought back to reality.
I immediately deflated, feeling grumpy once again. I didn't dare look up at the office building towering in front of me. It led to torture, the worst thing imaginable.
I was going to be lectured on hiring people in that building.
I was at the headquarters for Gleam Hero Company, and we were going to be lectured by one of Gleam's sidekicks, Sparkle. I knew that this was going to be torture because 1) it's a lecture and 2 ) I hate Gleam and her sidekicks. They're all a bunch of jerks just in it for the fame, with no good intentions backing it up. I hate how shallow today's heroes can be.
We were basically going to sit in a room all day and listen about how the company looks for talent in young students. It's gonna be so boring. I mean, why do we have to know all this as first years, especially when most of us aren't even going to be in the business course later on. At least teach this stuff to us later, when we need to know this stuff. Everyone's just gonna forget all that we learn today, anyway.
I shuffled on as I mentally rambled on about lectures, zoning out for a bit. I was brought back when Heather tapped me on the shoulder. I immediately snapped my head in her direction.
"Distracted?" She smiled at me.
"Yeah, I guess," I said, "I feel like a lot of us are going to be today, though."
Suddenly Chloe appeared right behind Heather, "Yeah, what's the point of long lectures when we can just learn along the way. My mom always says 'it's best to learn from your experiences'."
I nod in agreement, and we silently walk towards the office building that loomed overhead, leading us to an almost never ending nightmare.
Meanwhile...
Two almost identical girls walked into a dimly lit room. In the middle was a ping-pong table surrounded by beaten up plastic chairs. Sitting at the head of the table, opposite the girls, was a tall, slender man. He had black everything, eyes, hair, clothes. Black even seems to radiate off of him.
The man glared at the girls. He wasn't angry, it was just the result of doing it so much that it was just second nature for him. The intensity of his gaze made the two girls shiver in fear.
"What?" He said, voice dry and raspy.
One girl, who had light blue hair, the color of the sky, held up a file of papers, "I got the information needed for the attack! It was so much fun sneaking inside there, no one even noticed me!"
The other girl, who had hot pink hair, looked at her twin angrily, "And I had to wait outside the whole time!"
"It's not my fault I have a better Quirk than you, KK!" The first girl said.
"Is that so, Kelly?" KK challenged.
The two girls started to yell at each other, until the man stopped them, "Enough! Kelly, give me those papers, now!"
Both of the girls went rigid at the sound of his voice. It took quite awhile before Kelly was able to give the man the papers in her hands, "Here, boss," she giggled nervously.
The man filed through the papers, quickly scanning each page, "You did a good job. The Master will be happy that we have a head start. Those other bastards are still trying to figure themselves out. Never mind them, you may go now."
