7. First Day Jitters

I put on my uniform quickly, without making a sound. I was too deep in thought; it was my first day! I looked over my schedule for the millionth time. (If I forgot any important subjects pls tell me)

8:00 - 8:40            Study Hall/Homeroom

8:45 - 9:25.           History

9:30 - 10: 10.        Workshop/Tech

10:15 - 10:55.      Math

11:00 - 11:40        Science

11:45 - 12:40        Lunch

1:45 - 2:25             English

2:30 - 3:10             Combat Training/PE

I considered myself extremely lucky to have PE at the end of the day, so I didn't have to walk into class sweaty and stinky. That would be really gross. I walk out of my room, backpack on one shoulder, and take the elevator downstairs.

My friends were waiting for me there. They waved me over, and I joined them they seemed to be talking about their schedules.

"So we have Homeroom first. That will be with all of floors nine and ten," Heather said. She had the power to control plants, that's why she always wore a flower crown.

We all nodded, "Well, I have Math after that, who else?" This time Luna was the one who spoke up. Her quirk was the ability to trap people in bubbles.

"I do!" Carol exclaimed excitedly. She could make people dance by seeing her dance.

"We already know you have the exact same schedule as Luna, Carol, and I have Math, too," Chloe said, exasperated. She had the ability to create strong sound waves just by singing.

"Well, I have history," this time it was Claire, who had been drawing on a sketch pad. She could will anything she drew to become real.

"Hey, I do too," I gave her a smile.

"I have science first," Selena spoke up. If she really concentrated, she could read someone's mind. Mind Reader is her older cousin, which I found weird, because before I thought Mind Reader was an old lady.

"Combat Training," Jenny announced. Her quirk was called Charmspeak, which gives her the ability to convince people to do stuff.

Last was Harper. She basically had bird abilities, "Well, I have English first. We should walk over to the main campus soon, it's 7:45 right now."

As we walked out the door, Brianna stuck her tongue out at us. She was wearing sunglasses and a very short skirt that worried me. Over the week I had learned that her dad is the hero Night Owl, and she could shoot laser beams out of her eyes, but her eyes couldn't be exposed to too much light, or else she would cause mass destruction. I did not like at all how her sunglasses made her look cool.

When we found the door to the room after getting lost at a few dead ends, we took a moment to calm down a bit. We were a bit nervous, since we had no idea who our teacher was. Jenny opened the door and we all walked in, to see... a boy arm wrestling a gorilla, while the teacher, a woman with brown braided hair tried to stop them, while Brianna followed her around, trying to get her attention, and calling her... mom? Oh no.

We watched in silence as the chaos unfolded. It was so crazy in the classroom I forgot all about being worried. This is gonna be fun.

Time skiiiiiiipppppp (enter soprano voice because it sounded cool in my head)

I flopped on my bed, exhaustion taking over my body. Is every day going to be like this?

During homeroom, it took up half of class time for Brianna's mom, or Mrs. Nightvision, to stop the boy's little tournament. Apparently it started when the strongest boy in the class, Kevin, a boy who can stretch his body, decided to challenge the shape-shifter, Corvin, to an arm wrestling contest. Naturally Frank had to  turn into a gorilla. It kind of worried me that Corvin has to have been in contact with the animal he transforms into within the hour. The boys all started placing their bets, and viola! Utter chaos! In the end we only had time to introduce ourselves.

Next was, ugh, history, my least favorite subject of all time. I was hoping we would learn about some of the first American superheros, who tended to fight in groups. There were the Avengers, the X-Men, the Justice League, and many others. We could have learned about the school history, how Marvel High and DC Academy merged to make White Star Academy. No, instead, we learned about Native Americans, and to be honest, no one was paying attention other than a few people in the front. Probably nerds.

And then Workshop. Our teacher, AstroTech, who officially dislikes me after to horribly in the entrance exams, decided it was best to start "easy" and assigned us the task of building a droid. In one 45-minute class period. I was only able to construct the wings. Now I have to finish building it for homework.

Math, something that I was actually GOOD at, was pretty boring, other than the fact that we took a placement test. The 20 minutes that I wasn't doing the test, I was sitting there, bored, while stared blankly at the back of the head of the person in front of me, or open my water bottle and try to make shapes out of the water.

After that was science, which was the only indoor class that was even mildly interesting. We learned about quirk evolution, and the teacher, Thunderclap, was pretty nice. He kept on farting, though, which earned him a lot of insults from Brianna, who, with my luck, happened to be in almost all of my classes.

At lunch, nothing happened much. I sat outside with my friends and we talked about our classes so far. We all agreed that they were pretty boring, but I heard good things about Combat Training.

My last 'normal' class was next, English. I don't know why we needed to take English, it seemed too bland for a hero school, but I guess the faculty saw a reason. It was pretty boring, other than the fact that the teacher, Zoomview, caught some people passing notes and decided to read them out loud.

My final class, Combat Training, was really fun, but extremely tiring. We took these eight tests that apparently students from all over the world did. I did best in the 50 meter dash; I got a 4.67, and just surfed on water that carried me across, and the grip tester; I got a 297 by encasing my hand in ice and willing the ice to push my hand closed.

I wish the first day of school would have been more fun. The faculty really killed the mood by making it feel so normal. I thought the day would be more exciting. I hope it'll at least get better soon. Maybe next year will even be better, when we're sorted into our courses.

As I thought about my day, I felt the exhaustion take over my body and I fell into a deep sleep.
