A.N. I just remembered why I keep writing Hawks instead of Hawk. I thought it sounded familiar when I thought of the name.
I partly hid my face behind my hair, covering one eye, as we walked into school grounds, and stopped at the building labeled 158. It was in a group of four large buildings that formed a horseshoe shape. 158 was on the left, and labeled 'first years,' the building to the right of it was 'second years,' and so on. Each building had two towers, one on the left and on the right, and a large lobby-like room in the middle.
Inside the horseshoe was a pavilion, where people had already started to gather. We put my luggage in a huge pile of others, then walked into the middle of the horseshoe.
Suddenly Ethan saw something, he ran towards it, yelling, "Uncle Rick, Uncle Rick!"
A man in a firefighter outfit turned around, and got squashed by Ethan wrapping his arms around him.
"Hey Ethan, what're you doing here?" He asked, smiling.
"Alex got accepted."
Mom and I walked in on their little scene. (I really do have a knack for writing things that sound wrong)
Uncle Rick saw us and pulled us into the hug, "I haven't seen you guys in months! I'm so happy for you, Alex," he kept us in the hug, a bit longer, probably to annoy Mom.
He was successful, "please let go now," Mom sighed.
"Anything for you, lil' sis!"
He let go of us, and Ethan immediately began firing him with questions about hero work. (get it, Fire, firefighter? Ok ima stop now) Mom was looking at them, smiling, while I was searching for someone.
She's gotta be here, her dad's a teacher.
I looked around, then caught sight of some reddish brown wings, definitely not Hawk's. They were smaller than his. I ran over, and tapped the girl on the shoulder. She turned around and smiled at me.
"Hey Alex."
"Hey Harper," I smiled back, "So, do you have any idea how this is gonna work?"
"Nope, my dad wouldn't tell me no matter how much I begged him," she laughed. "So anyways, where's your mom and brother? Are they here?"
"Yeah, they're here. They're just talking to my uncle, since he's here, and y'know, looking out for talent. He could always use a new recruit."
"Oh, okay, well did you read any good books lately?"
"Yeah, a ton!"
We talked about books for the next fifteen minutes or so, until the princinpal, Principal Truth, a tall woman with large glasses and blonde hair up in a bun, came up on the stage, and tapped the microphone, testing it and getting everyone's attention.
"Welcome, first years, to White Star Academy! Today is your moving in day, and the school year will begin exactly one week from today. You will be residing in the building labeled 'first years,' obviously. Girls will be on the left and boys on the right side. Inside the lobby you will find a map, which shows where you will be staying. Next year, you will move to the second year building, but other than that, same floor, same room; you'll be on the same floor with the same people for four years! I really hope you get along well, because we're not changing our floor plans. Also, the better you did on the test, the higher the floor you're on, you get a better view!" Principal Truth was talking in an annoyingly excited way at this point I didn't want to hear much more, but God saved me, "that's all I have to say, you may all move in now!"
People quickly grabbed their bags and tried to cram into the lobby to see where they would be staying. Me, Harper, and a few others watched them. We didn't want to be squashed and potentially injured before the beginning of school.
A.N. Soooo, who are Alex's dormmates? Are they nice? Will they hate each other? I wonder what happens next! (Well I do know bc I'm the author and the author knows all)
