Gregor took this time in the air, to ask Luxa why the war started. That's what was bugging on him the entire journey. He asked Axis to fly up to Luxa. When Luxa saw him, she turned her head away from him, look in into the darkness. "I do not know why we must have many wars." She said. "I don't get either. I wanted to ask you why this one started, anyway." Gregor just blurted out, "Because the spinners thought we were not trading fairly, that we were giving them too little, and they thought they were giving us too much. So that is when the war started, you came just on time, Gregor." she sighed, and then looked down. "What is it like in the Overland? Not exactly that I could go, just curiosity is biting me." Aurora asked, quietly. "Well, there isn't war. And there are lots of different things there, like food and, uh, entertaining things, I guess, like playgrounds and, uh, amusement parks." Gregor stammered. He didn't really know what to say, they wouldn't know what half the stuff is up there, "There's, uh, lots of light. And in the winter there's snow. It's really cold though." he told them. Then the rest of the way, he didn't say anything.
Once they landed for the third time, Gregor and everyone else was exhausted, but a lot of them had open wounds, and had to keep going. They only stopped to eat and drink water. Gregor was surprised Mareth hadn't lost his prosthetic leg when he was fighting. Maybe he had, but got it back. He didn't ask anyway.
It was another long time before they landed again, Gregor thought they landed in a cave with stones all around it, but he was in the high hall, just realizing it. "We're back" he thought. "I can go home soon" People started rushing up to them, doctors with stretchers took Sara, she wanted to get off, but they wouldn't let her, she was very stubborn. Luxa, Mareth, Vikus, Howard, and the rest of them went on stretchers, but were very reluctant. Gregor went on one too, and didn't really enjoy it. Someone pressed something to his lips, and Gregor felt really tired. It was that sleep medicine that he had gotten before.
When he woke up, he was in a hospital bed. He had some new stitches. New scars. He was told to eat, but luckily, not forced to sleep. When a nurse walked in, Gregor asked if he could go see his friends. She said okay as long as he doesn't run, or do anything that involved too much movement. First he went to go see Luxa.
Luxa was sitting up in bed, whining while a nurse tried to make her eat. When she saw Gregor her face lit up. The nurse excused herself out, and turned the hall. "Gregor! I thought you would never come. Sit down." she said, gesturing to a chair. He sat down, "You should eat, you know." he told her. "This food is very unappetizing." she said, frowning at it like it might insult her back. "Do you know how everybody is?" Gregor asked, "No. Well, I hope." she said, looking at her food again, disgusted. "Well I just wanted to see how you were. I have to go see everybody else before I'm told to stop running around like a maniac." Gregor told her, but then decided not to say anything else that might make her laugh, or her stitches might break.
Next he saw Vikus. He wasn't staying in the hospital exactly, he refused to stay there, but he was in there at the moment, complaining to the nurses about his injury. "Hey Vikus. How are you doing?" Gregor asked, Vikus looked at him like he was crazy, "I am fine." was all he said. Then he left his room, and went somewhere.
"Overlander!" he heard Mareth say excitedly. Gregor hesitated, then walked into his room. He didn't know what the hesitation was for, he wasn't scared of Mareth. "How are you, man?" Gregor asked, "I am well. Tired, but who of us is not?'' he agreed, "Do you know how everyone else is?'' Gregor asked him. "Not really, but I think they were deciding whether or not to cut Sara's leg off, like mine. It would be such a shame for her not to be able to do much. She is so young, and she cannot do much at her age now." Mareth said, "Yeah" was all Gregor was able to say.
He saw Sara last, after he saw everyone else. "How are you doing?" Gregor asked her, she was paler than usual, and looked lost. "Well. They, the nurses, gave me stitches." she said, eyes wide. "I am so mad! That they did that! They will not let me do anything! I hate this place! They do not even let me go around! I cannot see my mother or sister! And they never have visited me!" she complained, that was all she did the entire visit. But before Gregor left she stopped him, "Gregor I have a secret to tell you. Remember when I was talking to Lance? When you accidentally went into my room? I have to tell you." Gregor turned to her, "What is it?" Gregor asked, "The reason I tried to kill Mason. No one knows why I did, and no one knows I started it."
