I woke up to Sadie calling my name. I opened my eyes and saw that I was still in the pool. I swam up to the surface and got out of the pool. I pushed the button and hid the pool, then I went to answer the door. Sadie stood there looking angry.

“I have been calling you for over five minutes!” She yelled.

“Sorry.” I mumbled. “I was asleep.”

“Well, get ready. We need to get to work.”

“On what?” I asked, letting her into my room.

“Well, we have to train you.” Sadie said. Then I noticed what was on the floor.

“Sadie! Don’t step on the-” too late. She stepped on the button that brings out the pool. The pool appeared under our feet and we fell into the icy water.

We both rose to the surface. Sadie was completely wet, shivering and gasping for air. “What the heck was that?!” She screamed climbing out of the pool.

“Sorry,” I said sheepishly. “My dad gave it to me yesterday. I forgot to pick up the button that turns it on.”

“I’m wet, cold, and really mad at your dad right now.” She replied ringing out her blond hair.

I laughed, which felt good. I haven’t laughed since… No, I won’t think about it.

“So what are we supposed to be training?” I asked curious.

“The art of not stepping on buttons that your friend’s dad gave to you that turn into a pool.” Sadie walking into my closet.

“Really? I’ve already mastered that. Though, I don’t think you have.”

Sadie came out with a plain white t-shirt and black sweatpants on to replace her wet clothes. “What do you think?” She twirled for me to see.

“You look great,” I said, “as always.”

“What is that supposed to mean?” She asked sitting on my bed.

“Nothing. Aren’t we supposed to be going?”

She looked outside. “We still have a few hours. Tell me!” She gave me puppy dog eyes. And, as hard as that is to do with a rebel like Sadie, she did it perfectly.

I laughed. “Ok, fine.” I gave up. “I’m saying that you’re prettier than me.”

“What!” She exclaimed. “That’s not true!”

“Yes it is.”

“No it isn’t.”

We did a stare down. Then we both cracked up laughing.

“As I was saying,” she said in her I’m-important-and-you-better-listen voice. “You should have seen the way Leo looks at you. He totally likes you.”

“Leo Valdez!”

“Well when you guys were talking he looked at you with this look in his eyes. The type of look a guy looks at a girl when he has a crush on her. He even told the Stolls that he thought you were another Aphrodite girl that would reject him. Or an Athena kid that would think he was annoying and would correct him every chance you would get. Remember he fainted when you got claimed?”
