Oake June. A Soldier. A father. A husband. A friend. He was thought to be dead. But no, he wasn't. That was just an illusion. It's been three years since he's been in hiding, and just last week he found his daughter, Lorelei June, who was a seer.

Now, he stood in front of her with three large blades protruding from his chest. Blood covered them, and one by one a drop of slid off and fell to the ground. Lorelei held a hand up to her mouth as her breathing quickened. Tears escaped her eyes.

She shouldn't have told him about her vision. This -... This never would've happened if she just kept quiet.

"... Dad... why...? I-I just got you back...", Lorelei said quietly. Everything around them stopped. "Y-You should just let me d-"

"No.", Oake gasped out, spatting out blood immediately after. His shaky fists clenched against the stone of the wall. "No... I shouldn't let you die, Lori... I'm your father.. I'm supposed to protect you... And I did.."

He grunted in pain, and pushed himself off of the wall, falling to his knees as his helpless daughter stood watching in fear. Oake lifted his arm and clasped his had onto one of the handles of the blades, fixing to pull it out of his back. Lorelei stopped him before he could do anything. She just lost her mother in the beginning of this war. She can't lose him too.

"Dad, no!", she yelled, dashing to his side. She tried prying his hand off of the handle, but even as he was dying, his grip was strong. Oake pulled on the blade a little, and gritted his teeth in pain.

"Dad stop!", Lorelei sobbed out as she struggled to get his hand off the blade. She couldn't do it. Her hands and arms were weak and shaking. Her father would die if he does what she thinks he'll do. Just because of that thought, she began to cry loudly. "Please don't do this Dad... We can heal you-.. You know we can! Just- Just don't do what i think you'll do. Please... just take your hand off the sword..."

It hurt to hear his little girl cry like that. It hurt to know that at just three years ago, she was not even fifteen yet, and she was pulled into this war. But his time had come. It was time for him to go.

"Darlin'... I should've been gone a long time ago..", he started. He gently pushed Lorelei back with his other arm, and ripped out the sword. His daughter froze. She didn't know what to do. He ripped out one other sword with his other arm, and let them clatter to the floor. Oake lifted his hand to the last and final blade, that punctured near his heart. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you three years ago... And I'm sorry I couldn't protect the king, nor the queen or your mother... but thank the gods I'm living up to my past regrets.... by protecting you, my little flower."

With that, he tore out the sword, falling fully onto the ground. Blood splattered against the stone floor, and the blade fell with a loud clang.

Oake's senses began fading. All he heard was his daughter's wailing. He felt himself being pushed onto his back, and faintly saw Lorelei bending over him, crying her eyes out.

All the emotions she held in from the start of this war started spilling out. She sobbed and blubbered nonsense to her dying father. That seemed to increase as his now colder hand cupped her cheek and weakly tried to wipe her tears.

"Darlin'... I'm so sorry I have to leave you..", he whispered, sadly smiling. "But please... don't give up hope... s-stay strong...", he shuddered for a second, "and win this war...."

Oake exhaled softly. His hand fell limp, and fell to his side.
