Xara's POV.

Petra smirked slightly at determination in my eyes. Instinctively, I clenched my fists and then relaxed, only now realising what was waiting for me. Somehow, by whatever miracle, I now had to take care of Romeo for some time and, even more, make sure he won't do anything dangerous. How was I supposed to do that?! One thing good about this - this hosting allowed me to pay back for everything he had done to me.

It allowed me to kill him.

- So, what do I do? - I asked the redhead. - I don't think that bringing him to the building, full of people would be a good idea.
She nodded, thinking for a split moment:
- I could ask Jesse if there's a place where you could stay while hosting him. As far as I know, there's an abandoned shack in the outskirts of Beacon Town, and maybe you could stay there.
It didn't sound like a bad idea, for it would allow me to stay away from these noisy, these curious people.

- That would've been nice. - I nodded slightly, and Petra raised an eyebrow in confusion. As if she was surprised I had agreed with her. Well, everybody might get good ideas sometimes. Besides, it wasn't like asking Jesse for something would be any difficult for her.
- Let's go then. - She nodded in the direction of the enter to the town. I rolled my eyes, just to keep the tradition, but still followed her.

- So. - The warrior cleared her throat as I caught up with her. - How long did you say you'll have to keep him?
- One week. - I replied. - Don't even know what to do with him all the time. I mean...
I bit my tongue, looking at the girl suspiciously. Why was I suddenly so opened to her? It wasn't like I liked her or something, she was rather arrogant and hot-tempered, but it just was easier for me to open up to her than to anybody else.

- I see. - Petra scoffed as we walked to the gates that instantly opened. I shrank back a little, though already expecting to see a crowd of people, and grumbled something under my breath.
They were still staring at me as I passed by, but I tried my best not to pay attention. Just look in front of you. Don't care what they say. Don't listen to them.

- Geez, calm down, will you? - The redhead smirked, seing my tension. - Nobody here will hurt you.
- Yeah, sure. - I frowned. - It's not like I was betrayed by people who I had believed to be my allies, locked away and used as a target. Surely, there's no reason for me not to trust people!
Uncomfortable silence fell between us during the walk to Jesse's office. I saw that kid, Stampy, in the corner of my eye, but simply ignored his smile.

Finally, we came inside the white building and I let myself relaxe a bit. There were people inside here, too, but at least here I felt a little more protected from a sudden attack.
Petra led the way, and I followed her to that room with lots of papers and documents inside. The mayor was sitting at the table, writing something as fast as he could, but the second we walked in, his gaze snapped up.

- Petra! - He instantly smiled and stood up, knocking some paper on the floor. The warrior smiled back, looking much happier than a second ago. It took Jesse a few moments to look away from his ridiculous crush and stare at me. In his green eyes I saw a spark of confusion, as if he was wondering what the hell I was doing there, but a few seconds later he smiled again.

- Hi, Xara. So, how did it go?
- Ugh, fine. - I folded my arms. Seriously, how much would I have to repeat that story again and again and again like some parrot?! I swiftly told him everything, hiding some unimportant parts like Romeo's pathetic look or the sudden strike of pity. By the end of my story, Jesse's eyes were shining like some freaking lamps.
- But that's wonderful! - He exclaimed as I finished. - I'll notify doctor Doe immediately! Now, you have a chance to make everything right again. I knew you didn't hate Romeo that much...
