Xara's POV.

Apparently now that Romeo was even more afraid of hurting me but his wish to touch me didn't dissappear, the best thing he could think of turned out to be making sure that there were always three layers of cloth between our skin, whether it were our clothes or jut his plaid wrapped around his hand a few times. I did mind, of course, but there was only so much that I could do, and it didn't really help me whatsoever. I couldn't complain, not when I new that these conditions were a torture for him as well, and I couldn't suggest something that would make it easier for both of us.

Mainly because there was nothing else.

I sighed and leaned my head in his hand, which was slowly stroking my cheek. The heat of the skin of the guy was barely noticeable through all the fabric of his plaid, but it was as good as it would ever get for the two of us. That was unfair and pathetic, I know, and I had no right to whine about this thing.

"Thinking?" My friend asked and I nodded with another sigh. What else could I be doing? "Yeah... It's like your head always gets heavy when you think hard about something."

What? My eyes raised their gaze and my friend smiled at me genuinely, letting his hand support me.

"I mean, you always did it." He chuckled silently and shifted. Sitting on the sofa made him feel very uneasy and squirmy, but at least he wasn't fighting it anymore. "Whenever you thought about something, even when you were an Admin, you would put your head against the wall or something like this... Like it truly became heavier with every thought that ran through it."

I smiled at that. Was that true? Have I actually done it a lot. Thinking back didn't give me much results, and I just decided to abandon the topic. Yeah, that's how it was these days - if I didn't want to talk about something, I could just not do it and everything would be okay. Romeo would understand, of course, he always did now.

I opened my mouth to say something when suddenly something lightly tapped on the roof of our house. I frowned and looked up, and so did my companion. By the way his eyebrows furrowed I could understand that he really concentrated on the sound. If my thing was leaning my head on something while thinking, he definitely froze like a chunk of ice when concentrating on something.

That was so different from when he was an Admin... Back then, it sometimes seemed like he was the energy itself, for he could spend hours upon hours walking around and talking, talking, talking about something that didn't interest me at all!

Although the time when he wouldn't say a word was even worse.

Now, I guess we reached the golden middle. He wasn't blabbering anymore, and I didn't wish I could knock him out just to get a moment of silence. However, I didn't have to drag every word out of his throat either. Yes. I definitely loved our life now.

"What?" My head snapped up when the guy stood up, still frowning and looking at his hands. His fingers were twitching, as if he was counting something. I frowned as well, but less in concentration and thought than in confusion and misunderstanding. "What is it?"

"A spider, judging by the sound." The redhead replied and looked up when the sound repeated. I shivered. A spider?! "A young one, I'd say... Wouldn't be able to get inside if ut wanted to, but the screeches could be annoying at night."

"Another spider?!" I explained. "Why? Do they smell us and think that we're all the easy prey for them?!"

I had never loved spiders even before the night one broke into our house and almost killed me for good. Now, just a thought of that horrible, hairy creature with long legs could make me throw up. It wasn't fear per say, more like disgust and mutual hatred.
