"Mom, Jimin's at our school." Yoongi deadpanned as he held Jimin haphazardly in his arms, trying not to drop him. "I'd ask you the same question but I wouldn't know the answer cuz unfortunately mother, the cat can't talk." He bellowed sarcastically as he tilted his head against his shoulder to secure the phone's position against his cheek. "What do you mean you just let him out? He never wants to go outside for no reason." Yoongi caressed behind the feline's ears to appease the sobbing meows that escaped below his nose. "He can't be in heat, he's neutered!"
"We could be here a while." Yoonah groaned absentmindedly as she scrolled through her Instagram feed. Jungkook and Taehyung had secured a place under the tree outside the school entrance because Yoongi had taken at least 20 minutes arguing with his mom about letting the cat outside without his collar on.
Meanwhile, Jin and Namjoon had hurried home before their parents gave them a reason to become men of the streets.
Jin had received an infuriated phone call from his mother about an email a teacher had sent about his 'inappropriate speech' during lunch. He'd gotten a lecture about 'that's a teacher and you shouldn't answer back like that' and 'if you can, keep your pretty face and forget you can talk altogether' because 'fucking hell Seokjin, Yoongi could have handled that by himself!' And in all honesty, Yoongi could have very well taken the fall for everyone if he needed to. The principal would have let him off easy anyway.
Namjoon on the other hand had missed prep-school and his father wasn't going to be happy about that because he had been offered places in the top universities all over the country. Which, yes, it would have been ideal to find a school that wanted him for not only his looks but his unrivalled intellect. However, he wanted to have a life as oppose to a friendless, competitive rivalry between he and his fellow classmates. He needed to live a little, it was his last year in high school after all. Memories needed to be made, items on bucket lists had to be checked off – he couldn't spend it all in prep-school studying shit he had already mastered through the internet.
Besides, his parents didn't need to know about the detention anyway.
"Look mom," Yoongi spoke firmly into the receiver of his phone. "I don't care if you have four other things to do, you need to come pick us up!" Yoonah rolled her eyes at his loud voice, passers by were beginning to stare. "Jimin won't get in my bag and it's getting late anyway."
"Kids, what are you still doing here?" a soft voice called from behind the school gates. The two youngest boys jumped to their feet at the sight of an adult still on school grounds – they were sure they were the last still in the vicinity.
"Dad," Yoonah beamed as her father approached them, several folders and his briefcase in hand. She hadn't seen him in the halls too often, hadn't looked for him outside of school but her mother didn't like her going out late at night anyway. Mostly, she just conjured up the memory of his face and tried not to cry when she opened her eyes and suddenly, he had vanished from plain sight.
"Dad?" Taehyung and Jungkook said instinctively, their faces contorted with confusion as they searched for an explanation on Yoonah's lips.
"Dad." Yoonah reassured her two best friends. "That's right, the principal of our school is my dad!" She exclaimed. Their jaws dropped further. "You two better start showing me some respect otherwise I'll let my dad out on you! Detentions for everyone!" she cackled connivingly.
"Say it louder Yoonah," Yoongi groaned from his place on the phone with his mother, Jimin squirming in his hold as he mewed desperately for freedom. "so the rest of South Korea can hear you."
"Yoongi, let's be polite now." If the principal were a character in an anime series, the sweat drop would be visibly plummeting from the side of his head. "just because you're the older one, doesn't mean that you can tease your sister like that." Yoongi rolled his eyes playfully, stuck his tongue out at Yoonah when his father had turned to talk to them as a whole. "Now what are you all still doing here? It's nearly 7pm." He glanced down at his watch, to his horror it was 7:15pm. "Is your mom coming to pick you up?"
