It had been a full 3 weeks since Yoongi had figured out his feelings for Seokjin. And as he had suspected, staying in the same room with the older boy had proven more a challenge, than paying attention in English class. Seokjin had tried to reach out to him on many occasions prior to their last meeting, but Yoongi had politely given him the cold shoulder.
By that, I mean he made shitty excuses as to why he had to miss lunch with them every day in the week. The excuses ranged from 'I, uh, have a project to do with a classmate, maybe tomorrow' to 'I promised some guys I would play and even 'Uhm, I have to take a shit, could be a while don't wait up.'
Yoongi hadn't He had even started hiding from them over the weekend, ordering his family members to tell his two best friends that he had migrated to Africa to help with the blood diamond overseas scandals.
'Course, Seokjin and Namjoon had just shook their heads and scoffed at the farce Yoongi had been stupid enough to concoct. They took the hint though. Come Monday they had given up trying to reach out to him.
As the bell rang for lunch, Yoongi hurried out of his seat to avoid his two best friends as they stumbled to get him. He had successfully ignored every 'where are you going?' and 'come have lunch with us' as well as 'are you just going to avoid us for the rest of our lives?' (that one was Namjoon's query, and the answer was no, just until I get over this damned crush).
Yoongi roamed the corridors of his school alone, lunchbox in hand as he searched for somewhere to eat. No doubt Jin and Namjoon were occupying the stairs just before the roof, so he stayed well away from that location. He didn't want to be around them. He loved them as though they were his own flesh and blood, but he still couldn't shake the feeling of shame in his core. It bubbled harshly in his stomach, it weighed on his chest so much, he could barely pull himself out of bed.
He'd feel his blood gather at the surface of his cheeks when Jin so much as touched his shoulder. Seokjin could breathe in his direction, and he could feel the gay panic wrap around his nerves. He'd feel his emotions build up and suddenly he couldn't stand their presence in front of him. It was similar to a spider suffocating a stagnant fly, a very unfortunate fly who had only days to live anyway but still a valid metaphor for this debacle.
He'd keep telling himself he was going to get over this, that he would be okay in due time because a high school crush never lasted that long. Perfect teenage romances only existed in the pages of a book, or in Hollywood movies. Sometimes in the media but even that could feel like a load of bullshit, set in motion only for the post publicity.
He would forget about this stupid crush. He would. Not just because he was determined to but also, because he had drilled it into his head that he had no chance with someone like Jin. Someone so gentle and ridiculous at the same time. Jin deserved someone who could be equally as kind and flamboyant as he was, and always would be. Jin wouldn't want someone like Yoongi, who was officially the last to figure out his feelings for the older boy.
Jin probably had no desire to unplug his complicated emotions anyway. Yoongi looked like a normal, high school student but there was a whole load of crap in his head that he, for the life of him, couldn't figure out. It took him years to free himself from his romantic oblivion with Jin, how could he unravel crap like: why are we here? If God loved humanity so much, why didn't he just bring us to heaven straight away? Why are babies so ugly when they'd just been born? Is that a metaphor for how shitty the world had become? Is it possible for–
"Hey..." a voice called quietly, Yoongi didn't hear it, just carried on staring up at the clouds while he used his hands for support. "Hey!" a little louder this time, making the pink headed boy surface from his own thoughts.
