I smiled down at my new dress, admiring its beauty. It was so darn cute. I'm actually kinda excited for this. I grinned, crossing my arms over my chest. I'm looking forward to this date. I spun on my heels and marched over to where I kept my shoes. I had the dress, now I just needed the shoes to go with it. I glimpsed over my small collection.
Me being me, I owned rather plain shoes -most being sneakers or biker boots, but one pair did stand out upon all others. A single pair of black anklet boots with slight heels. They were a pair of shoes I bought the winter prior on sale just because I thought they were kind of cute. Okay. I thought they were really cute. And I never had any reason to wear them...until then.
I snatched up the boots and walked over to the dress. Leaving my dress on my bed, I set the shoes on the floor. Just with that glimpse, I knew I had picked the perfect outfit. Oh, yeah. Kellen's gonna be knocked out of his shoes.
I beamed at the thought of his name. Chills of thrill darted across my skin, giving me goosebumps. I wrapped my arms around myself. Thinking about him made me remember that night. The night where I felt his body against mine. The night where our lips met and danced together, our fingers lacing together. The night where I felt a man's touch. It made me so giddy to just think about it. But, I also recalled Marco's words from earlier.
"Oh," he said, blinking rapidly. "Kellen? Kellen Haas?"
"Mmmhmm," I hummed, folding the dress over my arm. I brought my gaze to his and beamed, "Do you know him?"
Marco shoved his hands into his pockets and shrugged, "Yeah. Well, I mean, not personally. He's a member of ADA too, but we're not close or anything like that." He scratched the back of his head. "So, you're going on a date with him?"
"Yeah," I chuckled. "You're acting like he's a psycho. Is there something I need to know?"
I watched as he tensed up slightly, his gaze briefly glancing around. Honestly, I didn't know what he was doing. All I could tell was that he was acting weird. Well, I assumed he was acting bizarre. I wasn't necessarily close to Marco. We barely knew each other.
Marco scratched the back of his neck and chuckled halfheartedly, "Ha. Oh, no. Nothing like that. Just wanted to know if I heard you right."
I lifted a brow. "Okay."
Remembering how he had behaved did peak my interest, but not enough to cause me to react. I mean, it was just a date. It wasn't like Kellen was about to propose to me or anything. Marco was probably just surprised that Kellen would go for such a plain Jane like me. Yeah. Yeah, that's it. I smiled to myself. I mean, why else would Marco be reacting the way he had? It was logical, and it made sense.
But, still...why had he looked so uneasy?
