Eventually I peel myself off the beach and stumble my way home. I make it there late into the night and flop heavily onto the bed. When I wake up the sea birds squawk outside my window and the sun shines directly in my face. I groan and roll over and hit cold metal. I shuffle to the side and see the necklace there. I run my hand along it, the junk from being under the water so long wiping off under my finger tips revealing the shiny luster underneath. I pull it up toward my face rolling onto my back as I study it.

The necklace is like nothing I have ever seen before, far beyond the wealth I would ever be able to afford in this lifetime. The middle stone in the middle shines different hues of blue depending on the angle it hits the sun. Patrick must have had a lot of things if he was so quick to let this go. Maybe he just really cares about you my mind blurts I shake the thought away and I get out of bed placing the necklace on the nightstand and making myself some food.

Soon after I grab the necklace and make my way into town. The sun is high in the sky when I reach the fish market, I decided I should stop in and visit Joe. As soon as I enter the store I see Joe and smile at him. He rushes away from the customer he is talking with, something that I have never seen him do and runs across the store and pulls me into a bone-crushing hug.

I let out a surprised 'oomph' as I am lifted off the ground for a few seconds from the force of the hug. "Pete oh my god dude everyone thinks you are dead what the hell. They sent out boats as soon as the storm had passed and they found your boat. God, I'm so happy you are okay." Joe pulls me back into the hug and it almost sounds like he is crying, I hug him back realizing he is right I should have died there in the water. I thank Patrick in my head while I hug Joe. "How did you make it out of that?"

"It is a long story," I say uncomfortably and Joe nods not pushing the subject. Which I am thankful for.

"Well I can't tell you how happy I am to see you here man, but you may want to go around and tell people that you are alive. I'm pretty sure the city is already planning how to sell your house." I nod quickly and we soon wrap up the conversation and I leave Joe's store and head over to a separate part of town, I hear people whispering and a few somewhat familiar faces approach me and pat my shoulder saying how they are glad I am okay.

In a small town, any loss is felt by the entire community, so I am sure by the end of the day news will have spread that I am alive and well. Tomorrow there will be rumors about how I survived it all and in three or four days it will be old news. I walk into the small shop set up and look up at the stupid sign, I have only been in here maybe twice both times coming her to shake Urie down for bets he has owed me from a night at the bar.

'Brendon's Pirate Booty' the sign reads above the door. It was a stupid name, but Brendon is the kind of guy who would find it hysterical. I never liked it here but a person got to do what a person got to do. I push open the door and walk inside. The smell of old wood and salt decay hits me as soon as I enter the store.

"Pete is that you? Dang man everyone thinks you are dead. Is this one of those come back from the after-life to haunt people type deals? God, I hope not you were annoying enough in life." He chuckles and comes out from behind the counter pulling me in a quick hug. "Glad to see you man, what brings you here? Missed me? Wanted to tell me you aren't dead? So thoughtful I love it."

"No Brendon as much as you wish that was the case I am actually here on business." Brendon holds a hand up to his chest in surprise.

"Peter Wentz here in my store trying to buy something, did you hit your head? That would explain the stitches."

"No, you idiot I am here to sell something." At that Brendon smiles and happily bounces back behind the counter bringing out a rubber mat to place atop it and propping his chin on one of his elbows and pats the mat with the other one. I roll my eyes and gently place the necklace atop the mat. Brendon's eyes widened immediately. Brendon goes to place a hand on it then immediately stops himself ducking underneath the counter and grabbing a pair of white gloves. He slips them on quickly and picks up the necklace examining it.
