Always Together (After Mockingjay Story)

Chapter 14

(Katniss's POV)

Johanna and Beetee walk off the train that brought them here to district 12.

"Hey!" we all scream at each other. They come over to us and we embrace them in out arms. We called them and told them to quickly come to district 12, which they did.

"Hey brainless," Johanna says to me.

"Hi Johanna," I say back to her. I want to get straight to the point, but I know they don't want to hear that kind of news right when they get here. She gives me a genuine smile.

"So how have you been? And.. Where's Peeta?" She asks looking around noticing he isn't here.

"I thought he came back from the Capitol," Beetee says. Finnick and Annie look at me so I know they want me to tell them. When we called them, all we told them was to come here, but we didn't explain why. I don't know how to tell them so I just kind of stutter at first.

"Well, that's the thing. That's why we called you guys and told you to come over. Umm.." I take a deep breath before continuing, "Gale kidnapped Peeta," I explain and put my lips in a tight line while trying to hold back tears. Johanna's smile is now turned down into a frown and her eyebrows come together to form a crease between them. Beetee looks confused at first, but then a mixture of anger and worry crosses his face.

"What?" He asks in a strained voice. You can tell he's trying to stay calm. We tell them to follow us and we head back to Finnick and Annie's house. Johanna is really pissed off and she looks so mad that I think she can probably rip Gale's head off the next time she sees him.

"Why would he do that? What are we going to do now? We have to get Peeta back and hurt Gale!" Johanna screams enraged. She really looks like she can break anything right now.

"Again, that's why we called you guys over here. We need to get him back and we thought we can use some help. So are you guys in?" Finnick asks.

"Absolutely," Beetee says.

Johanna raises her eyebrows as if to say that she's obviously in.

"Okay, but we need a plan. That's where you come in," I say to Beetee. Beetee nods his head and agrees to make up the plan. I'm not really sure why we need all of us victors when it's just only Gale, but who knows? Maybe he's more capable of things then we give him credit for.

We all sit down around the coffee table and think of things we can do. Everyone is blurting out ideas, but we can't agree on anything. It's getting really frustrating and I'm pretty sure I'm going to break down if we don't come up with a plan soon. We need to hurry up and think of a good plan because it's been 2 days since his disappearance and I'm becoming more and more anxious with every passing second. We are all talking and arguing on the right things to do.

"Wait, so you guys know where he is keeping Peeta right?" Beetee asks.

"Well, we have a hunch that it's this one abandoned warehouse it the outskirts of town. We aren't exactly sure, but it would make sense and we found the address in his phone," Finnick explains.

"Yeah, and there aren't many people who live there so it's pretty vacant," I add.

Beetee seems to think this over and puts his head down. I just really hope he has a plan. The room becomes very quiet and Beetee suddenly looks up. "I think I have a plan," he says. We all lean in towards him as he tells us what it is. We are all quiet and listen to what he tells us. We sometimes stop and ask questions to make sure we know what he's thinking and soon we have a perfect plan. What we are going to do is go down to the warehouse around midnight and sneak in. We have to wear dark clothes to cover ourselves. We are pretty sure Gale doesn't have anyone or anything guarding it so we can easily get in. But it might be where Gale stays so we have to be quiet. All we have to do is get in there, grab Peeta, and get out. I really hope this plan works. My hope for this plan is stronger than the fear of what Gale might have in store for us. I honestly couldn't care less because I just want Peeta back. I guess hope is the only thing stronger than fear.
