Beatrice's POV

It was one of those days, the kind where no matter what you just felt like something bad was going to happen. I couldn't get the odd feeling out of my head no matter how hard I tried. I was stuck in my metal cell, laying on the uncomfortable beds they gave us, staring up at the stars through the ceiling window my luxury new home came with. I guess I could be a little grateful, at least if I'm in lockup, I'm not stuck at home with my insane father, even though he ain't much of a father at all. The most he did for me was wait a year before he killed my mother. I was only a year old but I knew he did it. He had always told me stories about how he stabbed her in the chest so many times before slitting her neck, whatever that was. Of course, after he'd tell me a story, it's time for a beating. It usually consisted of a couple of punches, kicks, and of course the regular blow to the head that would send me night night. I never knew why he did it, just that he hated me because I looked like mommy. I've never seen pictures but I sometimes see her in my dreams. I've talked to her a couple of times when I was 3! She told me I was the best little girl ever and that she would always protect me. Then she took me into a flower field and we spent all day playing. Of course, all dreams came to an end and I eventually woke up. I had told father about it but all it got me was an extra beating. Between punches, I could hear him muttering about how not to talk about her and that she was dead to him, I don't know why though. Last night was one of the nights filled with an amazing dream about my mommy.

"Beah..."

I was in a familiar field. It was filled to the brim with different flowers Monty had shown me in a book. I noticed the red, pink, and white tulips, the yellow sunflowers, and my personal favorite, the blue hydrangeas. They were just so beautiful just like Mommy. My favorite part of them were all the weirdly-shaped petals grouped together in giant bundles. Mommy told me that they were her favorite so therefore, they're mine too. Anything that makes mommy happy makes me happy. As I walked through the bushels of vibrant colours, I noticed from the corner of my eye a picnic blanket. That's where me and mommy always go! 'Maybe she's there' I tell myself and start running as fast as I can towards it. "Mommy! Mommy!" I start to yell as I make my way over. I hadn't seen her yet but hopefully, she would be there.
