Nuclear Family

Author's Note

Funny story... I had written an author's note for this story, but that was all the way back in February of 2019. That version explained differences between the story as it was at the time and what was happening with the show... as of when I started the story, way back in October 2018.

This leads me to my first and probably most important point: When I first started writing this story, NCIS was just beginning season 16. The show is currently mid-season 17, and if you have been keeping up, you are well-familiar with the Ziva storyline. That being said, any similarities between this fanfiction and the actual show are purely coincidental.

At the time I began writing Nuclear Family, I did not anticipate CBS saying that Ziva was alive, much less them actually (briefly) writing her back into the show.

So this storyline (established well before CBS decided to bring our beloved Cote back) is somehow just freakishly similar to what actually happened. In some ways.

I feel like this isn't making any sense, but you'll understand once you read it.

Anyway... next thing to note is that this storyline does not include Bishop, Torres, Kasie (is that how you spell it?), Sloane, any of the characters NCIS has introduced in the last few years. As much as I would've loved to have included them, especially after watching a good chunk of season 17 and finding that I like these characters, unfortunately I have not seen seasons 11-16 and do not feel familiar enough with them to take on that challenge.

So this story will only include the OGs, or, if you'd rather think of it this way, the characters who were on the show around the time Tony left (which is slightly inaccurate, because I didn't include Bishop, and I really wish that I had).

This time in the series, where Tony discovers he has a daughter, is basically where Nuclear Family picks up, except then current day -- about October 2018. Think of it this way: if Tony had stayed, this is where we would be currently, minus season 17's Ziva arc.

I seriously feel like none of this makes any sense in words. Either that or I'm just really bad at explaining.

In short, the story takes place in *roughly* present day and is the result of re-imagined seasons 13-17.

So yeah.

Anyway, I had a lottttt of fun writing this (though it was a painful and emotional 15 months of on-and-off writing), and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I do. 

Updates will kick off on Tuesday, Jan. 14, followed by Friday, Jan. 17, and every Tuesday and Friday thereafter unless something major comes up to prevent me from posting (in which case I will drop a message on my profile).
