I drove as Mike nervously fidgeted in the passenger seat beside me. "Dude, chill. We're just picking Cassie up from the hospital then going to Ana's."
At the mention of her name, he tensed up. I've always had a crush on Mike, and it kills me to see that he cares for someone else. It's like a knife to the heart.
We arrived and Cassie signed all of the papers, leaving with us.
-------
Cassie sat in the front with me, and Mike sat in the back. Once the car warmed up, Cassie took her sweatshirt off. She had red marks, almost like someone was grabbing her way too hard. There were even bruises along her wrists.
"Cassie, what the hell happened to your arms?" Mike sternly spoke from the back seat.
"Nothing happened, I'm fine," she smiled weakly at him. It was so obvious that they still cared about each other.
"Did your mother do that?" He placed a hand on her shoulder.
Instead of flinching away, she placed her hand on his and said, "I'm fine."
"Okay, not to interrupt your steamy moment, but we're here," I said, and Mike removed his hand, opening his door. Cassie did the same.
We all walked up to the door, Ana's front door, and I opened it. Ana, Mya, and Cayson were sitting on the couch watching God knows what.
"Ew, why is the freak here?" Ana stood up and stormed over, "she wasn't invited."
"I invited her." I walked past her and Mike and Cassie followed. "Cassie, this is Cayson, Ana's... Second-cousin?"
×Cassie's POV×
The guy, Cayson, stood up and shook my hand. It was a gentle shake, not like most men's handshakes where they try to break your hand with brute force.
"Don't I know you from somewhere?" I asked.
"Yeah. I'm a junior, too. On the football team as well."
"Oh."
-------
He keeps staring at me. They both do. Cayson is staring at me, and Mike keeps going from staring at me to staring at Cayson. God damn it.
We are currently watching The Purge, but I bet if you ask the guys anything about the movie, they wouldn't know. I walked to the kitchen to get out of their sight, and to get a glass of water.
Ana was sitting at the counter, fiddling with her phone. "Where are the water cups?" I asked.
"The shelf next to the microwave, to the left." She looked at me, then back down at her phone.
I grabbed a glass and filled it with water from the sink. As the cup was halfway full, I hear a voice near me. "No, use the water from the fridge. It's cleaner." Ana.
I poured the cup out and made my way to the fridge. A hand touched my shoulder as I started to fill my glass. "So, why were you and Mike in the hospital?" Cayson's voice scared me half to death.
I jumped in shock, dropping my glass on the floor. It shattered and water splashed everywhere. I then fell onto the glass shards, side-first. Well, at least I didn't land on my back. I wouldn't really want people digging glass out of my ass.
"Look what you've done, Cayson. You've scared the poor girl, broke one of our glasses, and injured her. Nice going." Ana stood up, grabbing a towel and a broom, handing it to him.
"S-sorry." I stuttered. His touch scared me. It was unfamiliar, I didn't know if he would hurt me or not.
"Not your fault," Ana mumbled. She helped me up and I could feel blood run down my arm.
Mike came walking in, "What did I miss?" As soon as he saw me, he quite literally ran towards me. He grabbed my arm gently and led me towards a chair next to the counter, sitting me down and rolling my sleeve up. "Holy shit."
