×Cassie's POV×
Mike shot Cayson an angry look and headed upstairs. "I'm so sorry," Cayson walked over and looked at my arm. I pulled out a few relatively large pieces of glass, but there were a lot of tiny shards.
"The dude's clumsy as fuck, don't worry," Ana said as she walked over, sweeping up the pieces of glass that weren't lodged in my skin.
"What are all of the bruises on your arms?" Cayson asked.
Mike came downstairs with tweezers, gauze, and antibiotic ointment. I looked at him like he had three heads. He grabbed my arm and I pulled it away. "Do you trust me?" He looked into my eyes.
"I-I don't know." The two boys were staring at me while Ana was putting the glass in a paper bag. Mike handed me the tweezers, and I reluctantly tried to pry the glass out of my arm. My eyes were watering to the point where I couldn't see through my blurry vision.
"Do you want me to do it?" Cayson touched my arm.
"No," I wiped the tears away and handed the tweezers to Mike. He let out a small laugh, triumphantly looking at Cayson.
"Ah, so you do trust me." He started to pull the glass out.
"Damn it. Now your ego is through the roof." Ana put her hand on Mike's shoulder. It shouldn't have bothered me because we aren't together, but it did. The fact that Mike wasn't doing anything about it hurt even more.
The pain in my arm was almost unbearable. Tears were streaming down my face like a waterfall. I don't know what came upon me, but I reached out and squeezed Cayson's hand as hard as I could. I placed my forehead on his chest, probably soaking his shirt.
I felt Mike stop working on my arm for a few seconds. "Hey, she didn't it, not me," I heard Cayson say. Mike was probably giving him shit for what I just did. Within seconds, the pain was back.
-------
"And... We're done." I felt the last piece of glass being taken out. The gauze was applied to my arm and taped on. I was still resting on Cayson's chest, nearly breaking his hand. He didn't seem to care too much, though.
Mike placed his hands on my stomach and pulled me away from Cayson. He then picked me up. "Please don't touch me. What are you doing?"
"Taking you to the couch. You need to sleep."
"No, I don't."
"Yes, you do." He placed me on the couch in an upright position and sat down next to me.
Cayson walked into the room and sat down on the other side of me. "My shirt is soaking wet," he mumbled.
"Deal with it." Mike pulled me towards him.
"Oh dear lord, you guys don't have to fight over Cassie like two toddlers and a toy." Ana grabbed the remote, sitting down in the one-person couch. "So you guys are all sleeping here tonight?"
"Yeah." Mike and Cayson said at the same time. Mya was already asleep on the second couch.
"Great. Rian's coming over. He'll be here in like two minutes." My chest tightened and the breathing hitched.
"What's wrong?" Mike looked into my eyes. Then he immediately realized. "Is he sleeping here?" Ana nodded at his question.
"Th-that's fine..." I managed to speak.
"Do you have an issue with him or something? 'Cause, like, I can tell him to stay home." Ana picked up her phone.
"No, it's fine." I lied.
Then a knock was heard on the front door.
