Kelsey's P.O.V.
I walked into the break room while Gil went to go get the assignments for today. Warrick, Catherine, Nick, and Greg were already there.
"Hey guys." I said smiling.
"Hey Kelsey." They chorused back smiling too.
"Where's Sara?" I asked looking around for her.
"She hasn't come in yet, which is very unusual for her." Nick drawled out in his deep southern voice.
The others nodded their agreement. Just then Gil came in looking puzzled. He held up a piece of paper. "This is Sara's resignation. It was on my desk."
"What?!" Greg yelled.
"I don't know. Sit down and quit yelling at me." Gil ordered. He looked pissed. He was trying to hide it from the others but I could see right through his facade.
The others looked at Grissom astonished. I however took a seat and sat back. I would get him to tell me what he was so mad about when we were alone. "Gil?" Catherine asked.
"What?" He said still using his hard tone. I had a feeling his blood pressure was 95 instead of its normal 70.
"The assignments." She pointed to his other hand.
He looked down and muttered a quick "Right."
"Greg your with Catherine, Nick's with Warrick, Kelsey your with me we have another possible victim of our killer." He told everyone and walked out of the room.
Everyone but Catherine and Warrick left the room. "Calm him down Kelsey, before he starts terrorizing the whole lab." Catherine begged.
I nodded and walked out of the room and into Gil's office after I closed and locked the door, I also made sure the blinds were down before I turned to him.
"Gil what's wrong with you?" I asked as I crossed my arms over my chest.
"Nothing. Kelsey go wait for me in the car." He answered voice hard. It was a dramatic change from the soft almost loving voice I had heard this morning.
"No." I wasn't leaving this room until I figured out what was bothering him and soon enough he would figure that out.
"Kelsey. I said GO." He yelled the last word. He has never raised his voice to me.
"And I said no Gil." Even though him yelling at me stung a bit I wasn't going to show it.
"This is why I didn't want a relationship. This is why I prefer to be alone. I don't need you checking to make sure I'm okay." He growled slamming a hand down on his desk.
I felt my eyes water instantly. Couldn't he see I just wanted to make sure he was okay because I cared about him? He didn't want a relationship? He preferred to be alone opposed to spending time with me? Fine. He could have all of it.
"Okay. I'll be out of your townhouse when we get home from shift. We'll be nothing more than co-workers. You can have your alone time. I won't act like I care about you anymore." I ground out. My chest was hurting painfully, and my eyes were stinging I knew I was about to cry and I'll be damned if I'll cry in front of him.
"KT.." He started immediately looking regretful.
I cut him off. "I'll be in the car." I called over my shoulder as I walked out the door and jogged the rest of the way until I was beside Grissom's Tahoe.
I couldn't breath. It hurt that much, I felt like someone had ripped my chest open and was squeezing my heart with hands made of needles. I shut my eyes and counted to 100, taking slow deep breaths. I was got to 78 before I was inturruptted.
