Time had been passing quickly at Hogwarts. To say the least, Luca was never bored. Over the last month or so she had been friend with the troublemaking boy, chaos had been a good friend of Luca's. There was never a dull day in her life now. Luca was happy that she decided to make a new friend, it had been on her to-do-list. Lily on the other hand, was to say the least, mortified at her friends new companion. But alas, after seeing how Sirius was actually doing some good for the quiet teen, she let up,by no means did that mean that she liked him, heck she barely even tolerated him and his other trouble causing friends. James was hoping this would also benefit him, as he liked to put it he was "making progress".

With Halloween approaching, Luca wasn't excited. Halloween had never been fun for her. Sure there was the feast, but that was about it. Halloween is the day her 4th oldest brother, Eli was born, him being 8 years older than Luca, he was never home to celebrate it during her youth. That didn't stop Luca's parents from throwing a party. They invited everyone they knew, which meant Luca was alone, again. She was never allowed at the parties, since she was what her parents called "a distraction."
Luca was used to this though, always being left out, heck she didn't even get a birthday party, not that she wanted one, parties were useless to Luca, why would you need to spend all this money on a thing that would last a few hours at the least. Another reason was because every year on her birthday, it was the day everyone went to Diagon Alley. Luca's birthday fell on August 20th, close to the start of the school year, but far enough away so there weren't as much people around in Diagon Alley.
Truth be told Luca didn't resent her brothers at all, were they close, no, but they weren't hateful towards each other. Luca knew it wasn't her fault her parents were sexist pigs.
So as Sirius was telling the girl all about their extravagant Halloween prank, all she could think about was her brother and how much she didn't care for the holiday. Sirius, noticing the girl had a far away look in her eyes, stopped talking and tried to regain the girls attention.
"Little Red, you still with me?" asked the boy as he raised his eyebrows.
Coming back to reality Luca looked over at the boy she had grown fond of.
"Yes, just thinking..." she said as she trailed off.
"Oh no" joked the boy "we're gonna be here all day then."
One thing that Sirius had learned from his month of befriending the girl was that once she was thinking, lost in a world of only her thoughts, you couldn't get her back until she had finished thinking about whatever is was. Funny enough, it was one of the things he liked about her.
"You know," started the boy, "why do you do that?"
Luca, confused looked up at the shaggy haired boy, "What do you mean?"
"Well," he trailed off trying to find a way to put his thoughts into words. "When you think, you get this far way look in your eyes and you aren't coherent until you are finished thinking about whatever has you attention at the moment."
"Well, Sirius, I can assure you, normally when I do that, it is because I am wanting to escape reality. My fantasy's are so much better than this world we live in. Especially in times like now, I was just thinking about my family, which is never a good thing, because then I think about how everything in my life is well, wrong." said the girl as she picked at her lunch.
Sirius didn't know how to respond to that. In their month of friendship, that was the most he had ever gotten out of Luca. Sure he knew that she wasn't close to her family, but he didn't think it was that bad to the point where she questioned everything. So he just deiced to leave it.
"Well, at least tell me you are excited for Halloween, I mean not to brag, but us Gryffindor's throw one hell of a party, love, you should come."
Luca had to stop herself from laughing. Lily had told Luca of these "legendary" parties, she said that everyone usually ends up drunk or wishing they were still drinking instead of throwing up their dinners.
"Sirius, I don't do parties, I would rather sit up in Ravenclaw tower with a book, and some hot cocoa. I don't want to be in that human puking fest." said Luca as she shoved her last bite of food in her mouth.
"Come on love, it will be fun, there will be drinks and food, and me." said the boy cockily.
Luca sighed as she grabbed her stuff. "That's the problem, I don't drink and I don't have a desire to, so nothing it really there for me, and I see you everyday."
As the girl walked away with her stuff, Sirius hurried to run in front of her.
"Ok so no drinking, but Remus, James, Peter, Lily and I will all be there. Please come, just for a moment." pleaded the boy.
"No, Sirius." said the exasperated girl.
Smirking Sirius came up with an idea. "Say yes or I get down on my knees and beg."
Luca internally panicked. "You wouldn't"
Sirius started to get down on his knees. "ATENTION EVERYONE!" yelled the boy.
Luca quickly covered his mouth. "Ok, ok , ok, fine I will come just get up please!" said the girl as she helped up her stupid friend.
"See little red, was that so hard. Parties tomorrow night, be there or I will drag you ass from Ravenclaw tower. That's right, I have a way in." said the boy as he backed away from her.
Luca pushed passed the attention seeker and started walking.
"Don't be late, starts at 8!" yelled the boy at her retreating figure.
Despite herself, Luca smiled. She didn't want to attend the party, but she was glad that someone cared enough to try and invite her.
Sirius on the other hand was ecstatic , he actually convinced Luca Volkov to go to a party. He couldn't wait to tell James. So off he went to find his best friend and tell him that he was one step closer to breaking the shell of the quiet girl.
