The Volkov family holidays were nothing to write home about. The family merely just accepted each others presence and that was that. Her parents didn't really do anything for Christmas. They didn't believe that it should be some extravagant party if it was only the seven of them, or in this case, eight.
They would only throw parties if the whole pureblood world was going to show up, they didn't feel like decorating, or going through all the trouble for no one to see. That is why when Luca arrived at the Potter's house she was surprised to see the whole place decorated, with the jolly sounds of Christmas music filling the home.
Luca's admiration for all the decorations and the happiness of the place was cut off when all of a sudden she was tackled to the ground by none other than Sirius Black.
"Oh little red, how I've missed you." said Sirius as she smothered Luca's face with kisses.
"Sirius, please get off the poor girl." said a women that Luca could only assume was James' mother. Sirius doing as he was told, helped the small girl to her feet. Once she saw that the boy was doing as he was told, Mrs. Potter left the room and went back to doing whatever she was doing before the girl arrived.
"Sorry about that, little red, it's just been so long since I last saw you." said the dramatic boy as he stood by the girl facing his new mother.
"It had been a week Sirius." said the girl unimpressed.
"The longest week of my life." Luca merely just rolled her eyes at the boys dramatics, already having gotten used to it since their friendship of three months had began.
"Padfoot, where did you go?" yelled James from the other room.
"Well Prongs, I was just greeting out lovely new friend," he yelled back to his best friend, "Come on Luca, let's go, we were in the middle of a very intense game of Exploding Snap when you arrived and I was just about to beat James' sorry little ass." said Sirius as he lead Luca into the Potters main living room.
True to what he said, James was surrounded by playing cards that were already used in there game of snap. James was also looking very impatient waiting for his friend to return so that he could attempt to make a comeback because from the looks of it, Sirius was right and he was going to "beat James' sorry ass".
"Hello Luca, lovely of you to join us this fine Christmas evening." said James as he and Sirius continued their game while Luca sat on the couch and watched them.
"Thank you for having me James, I really appreciate you and your family having me over." said Luca with the utmost sincerity. Luca had already spent Christmas morning with her brothers and Seth. It was great in her opinion, they were all laughing and exchanging gifts, even her parents were happy. That is why Christmas was her favorite day of the year, everyone in her family was finally happy and they could forget about the world and their problems for a few hours at least.
"No problem," said James as Sirius beat him in snap again, "my mom loves having people over, I think she is just excited that we made a new friend, after all, I haven't introduced her to someone new since first year when she first met the boys." said James as he tried to redeem himself from the move that Sirius just made.
"At least your mum is excited about your friends, mine doesn't even know their names, and we have Seth staying over right now, last night at dinner she called him Sam, Seth has been friends with Sander for ten years." said Luca throwing her hands up in the air.
"My mum is the same way, little red." said Sirius as he beat James as yet another game of Exploding Snap.
"What do you say about starting a sucky parent club little red, we can gather others with bad parents and talk about all the childhood trauma they gave us." said Sirius jokingly as he was preparing another game for him and James.
