Story Idea No.1!

Okay so this is my first story idea. This book will be called 'Next Gen Gamers' and is about some fictional YouTubers set in the year 2020.

Here is the prologue:

Hi, I'm Nicole from the BroMinecrafterz. You might know me, I mean; my channel does have 6 million subscribers after all.

Oh you don't? That's a rarity…

I am the founder of one of the most famous gaming groups on YouTube. My best friends are Alex, Claudia, Katelyn, Sally and Jemma. Together we make the BroMinecrafterz, a channel that makes 50% Minecraft videos, 25% Educational and 25% other (vlogs and other games).

I always thought our name was a little hypocritical, we all being girls when the name clearly contains the word 'Bro' but you know what? That's just how we roll.

GIRL POWER!

Talking of girl power… I guess this is a good time to introduce our mortal enemies, The Ninja Gaming Elites. That is made up of a group of boys called Dakota, Sean, Mike, Zak, Brett, and Leo. They do 50% Minecraft, 25% horror games, and 25% other (vlogs and Grand Theft Auto etc)

The Brominecrafterz and The Gaming Elites are all approximately 20 years old. And we all have basically the same content. And we were all inspired by the same people, PewDiePie, Tobuscus, BajanCanadian, Team Crafted, and of course, SkyDoesMinecraft.

Their time has since passed, they've settled down and got ordinary jobs now, or trying to handle a family. But not us. We are the next generation. This is the year 2020, and we're coming to bring what the kids of the noughties have to offer!

Yes, this is a sad story of in-with-the-new and out-with-the-old, in-with the noughties and out-with the nineties, but we can't exactly help that. And we don't care either!

So how did the two channels come to be? I hear you ask. Well, it's a long story, but I guess I have time to tell you right now.

It started 8 years ago (2012), when I was 12. I was absolutely crazy about SkyDoesMinecraft and I owned a game called Minecraft - you might have heard of it. When I was 14 I started a YouTube channel with my best friend Katelyn. We recorded Minecraft videos together and overall had a very good time. Our channel was small for 2 years, until we made the brave decision to start monetising and we partnered up with Machinima (Around July 2016). I bought Sony Vegas and generally our videos were very high quality. In both content and graphics.

Subscribers flooded in - we couldn't believe it! Soon we were at 300,000 and we started to record with the big guys, you know, Team Crafted and MinecraftUniverse, Deadlox, Munching Brotato and Bashurverse and all that. Even SkyDoesMinecraft about 10 times. That was a dream come true for me, personally.

Then I met some girls on Omegle (Late October 2016), they said they had a channel but it wasn't very big. It was on 1000 subscribers. They were the same age as me and Katelyn and their names were Alex, Sally and Claudia. They were from California.

We exchanged emails and low and behold, we became best friends, called each other on Skype every day and they started to record with us.

Note at this time me and Katelyn's channel was still named JustSomeEnglishChicks, and we had no intention in forming a group. But then I met Jemma from New York, (Late December 2016) we became best friends as well and she recorded with us all very often.

The fans loved Alex, Claudia, Sally and Jemma. And they said they couldn't get enough of us. So it was the 1st July 2017 when we made the brave decision to make a new channel, The BroMinecrafterz. (The name was a suggestion from the fans, but also mixed with my own idea). Our group officially launched and we soon reached the place we are today.

Meanwhile, The Ninja Gaming Elites have their own story. It all started in 2012 (again) when a boy from one of my classes also had the same brilliant idea as me, to start up a channel and record Minecraft videos. He named himself 3LIT3G4M1NG (Elite Gaming) and actually, he was very successful, clocking in at 500,000 subscribers by the time he was almost 17 (around the same time I met Jemma). I’m not sure how it happened, but somehow he became best friends with a small group called The Ninja Gamers. The group was made up of 3 best buddies called Dakota, Brett, and Leo. They recorded regularly together, promoting each other.

Around the beginning of 2017, some more boys who used to be in my class (Sean and Mike) found out about Elite Gaming. They agreed to make Elite Gaming into a collab channel.

A month later, the founder of Elite Gaming asked The Ninja Gamers if they could join his collab channel, since Elite Gaming had almost double the amount of subscribers than The Ninja Gamers. They said no, because they wanted to keep their name. But after a few weeks of convincing, The Ninja Gamers agreed to make a compromise.

And so The Ninja Gaming Elites was born 20th June 2017.

By 2018, it was clear to see that The BroMinecrafterz and The Gaming Elites were worthy opponents, both having the same content and the same subscriber count.

It wasn’t long before the community cottoned on to this, and my friends and I were starting to notice what the fans were doing. We saw fan art of The BroMinecrafterz and The Gaming Elites taking sides, Girls V Boys, etcetera.

I knew about Elite Gaming, but I had never realised how successful he’d become. It took me quite some time, but I eventually caught up with everything I’d missed about Elite Gaming, The Ninja Gamers and The Ninja Gaming Elites whilst I was busy growing my collab channel with Katelyn and forming The BroMinecrafterz.

I was so shocked to see the guys I knew from my old high school, had formed one of the most successful gaming groups on YouTube. I watched some of their videos, and I found that it had become a regular thing to talk about The BroMinecrafterz and how… rubbish… they were.

It was obvious in the comment section that some of our fans were backing us up on The Gaming Elites’ videos. And it became apparent that a lot of our fans were also The Gaming Elites’ fans.

It was then when I decided to message The Ninja Gaming Elites via their business email.

I said that it had been amazing to discover that some of my peers from high school had been so successful with their gaming channel, and I also mentioned that The BroMinecrafterz would be happy and very obliging to record with The Ninja Gaming Elites some time

Alas, it was not to be. They said no, and read out my email to the fans in one of their videos the following week.

I can safely say that was when our rivalry was formed. We have never recorded with each other, and have mocked each other since.

However, it is sure to say that from July 2017, the growth of the two groups never ceased, and we both got up to 6 million subscribers within a few days of each other 2 years later (July 2020).

I am overall a very happy person, making my living off YouTube by recording with my bestest friends in the whole wide world. I make other people happy, and I get to meet my idols every so often at Minecon and PAX. What’s not to love?
