"I'm sure it was just mix up. Probably a lack of communication somewhere." Rich said, a note of urgency to his voice as he watched her.
"Ruffus?" she repeated, her eyebrows still risen as she stared at him, her hand remaining at her hip.
"I swear Rose, I have been busy all afternoon, I haven't been in touch with the garage yet, but I'll get right to it." He started to pull out his phone from his pocket.
Rose finally pulled her hand away as she waved her hand at him. "No Rich. I believe you. It's just that...well, they can't have got it mixed up, unless they confused me with the other truck that was hit by a collapsing tree during a storm." she muttered sarcastically.
Rich seemed immune to her comment, for he still took out his phone and tapped away at it, obviously looking for something. Rose glanced at Benny who had gone quiet and was simply staring back and forth between the two of them.
"Well don't look at me!" he said simply with a shrug.
Rich looked up to the pair of them then, shoved his phone back in his pocket keeping his hands their instead. "Well no point worrying about it now. Let's just get back and see what your mother wants to do and deal with one issue at a time hey?"
Rose opened her mouth to say something, but quickly thought better of it, shrugged herself and said her goodbyes to Benny before clocking everything out. She hadn't looked around for the others, the fewer people she had to speak to, the better.
It had became obvious throughout the day that Rose would be staying another night at Abel Pastor, especially if her mother was still in town. Of course that meant that they had the commute of to get there. More time alone with her thoughts, and the silence that Rich enjoyed whilst driving.
Abel Pastor was indeed a beautiful home, but knowing what she did now, she wasn't sure she would feel as comfortable as she had the first time she had stayed there. It was true that she knew Thomas Stork was someone who was going to keep her safe, he was also the person who brought her here, and as she looked across at Rich as he steered the car out of the yard, part of her was thankful for that. However, things were moving a little too fast for her, and this was someone who liked sticking to deadlines and marching forward with projects. It reminded her of when she was little, or at least of stories of when she was little. Her grandfather said that she used to try to run before she could walk..which often resulted in many falls.
She didn't want to fall!
The amount of emotions her tortured mind was being dragged though, she really couldn't cope with a fall. She looked at Rich once again and a small smile crept across her face. He was her wall. Someone who seemed fixed in place. Riddled with strength. Strength that she was lacking it seemed. He was her secret keeper!
"What's that for?" came Rich's voice, a hint of a smile in his own.
"What's what for?" she repeated, not following his train of thought.
"That smile that just appeared from nowhere."
She could practically hear those teeth shining through his words.
"I was just thinking how so much has happened this past week, how everything feels different, yet some things feel like they've always been that way." She looked out of her window then, afraid for him to see anything that might have shown in her eyes.
"And that made you smile? Sheesh Rose...I think you have a different idea of fun than me!" He was teasing, she could hear that too. "So do you think your mum would have hung around? She wouldn't have gone home just yet would she? I mean you hadn't spoken to her about everything that was on your mind, had you?"
