It was one of those clear, moonlit night where you could just about see all the stars and easily made out constellations if you had an eye for them. It was a little chilly for a spring night, but my company made up for the cold and filled me with a summer's warmth.
Seth and I were huddled together, sat atop a woolen picnic blanket with another blanket wrapped around our shoulders. The scenery at the hilltop was mesmerizing, as I always had a thing for looking at things from a bird's eye view. I was impressed that Seth remembered that fact about me. And that he remembered that my favorite sandwich was a simple mayo' and cheese.
In all honesty, it felt like a date, but I hadn't the nerves to confirm my suspicions with the guy himself. I was worried that it was just me overreacting, and that it was a perfectly normal friend thing to do for Seth. I didn't want to ruin our night and complicate things.
"I always feel this inexplicable peace when I'm with you," Seth exhaled quietly, breaking my train of thoughts. He shifted so that he was looking at me instead of the stars. I shifted too, intimidated by his intense stare.
"I'm glad I bring you peace?" I wasn't sure how to respond to that.
Seth chuckled.
"You're really cute when you're nervous."
If I was capable of blushing, I would've turned bright red.
He exhaled again, and his breath fawned across my cheeks. I was suddenly very aware of our closer than usual proximity.
When he closed his eyes and leaned forward, all my previous worries were thrown out of the window. I reacted instinctively as his lips touched mine. It was the kiss that I had been longing for and I found myself kissing back feverishly, my intensity matching his.
We were both at a loss for words. There, on a hill under a starry night, I broke the vow that I made not so long ago and gave it all to Seth Vasquez.
