Cuì's P.O.V
I feel, nothing around me, as if I'm floating. I open my eyes to see a hooded figure standing in front of me. A man, to be exact, stood in front of me and reached out to touch my hand. His fingertips were black, as if he had dipped them in paint and it stained his skin.
His fingers were long as they stretched out to grab me his pointed nails grazing my skin. I start to panic, every instinct in my body telling me to move away from his ghostly grasp, but my body was frozen, and nothing moved when I told it to. To my surprise, his hands fell to his sides and he lifted his shadowed face barely an inch, but I could tell something was moving underneath.
I guess this thing could talk because I started hearing voices. As if multiple people were speaking all at once, but they were saying the same thing. Almost in sync. It freaked me out, yet I was intrigued.
"You were brave in your years, and yet you shed so many tears. I have come to collect your soul, to pay off your toll. I guess you retire, so I'll send you off to where you desire." With that he lifts a bony finger and points it straight to my head, directly between my eyes.
"What are you doing?" My voice is hoarse as if I hadn't spoken in years, or as if I had been drowned and my lungs were filled with water.
"Sending you away, for you are no longer a stray." With a snap of his fingers a bright and pure white light glows around my body and for once I can move my limbs. "Good bye now little girl, for you are such a pearl. I could never hold onto something like you, so I wish you ado."
The light around me glows brighter and brighter until I feel myself floating upwards. I look down at the man one last time before seeing him take off his hood. My eyesight was slowly fading but I could still see his face, if only at a glimpse.
He looked as though he hadn't eaten in so long, his cheeks were hollow, his green eyes were bright yet dull. His pale skin, almost white, though his hands and neck were covered in a black, paint-like, substance.
Through his black robe of shredded cloth, I could see his bone-like structure. Stiff and straight at every edge. His onyx colored hair was in a bundled mess, it flew in almost every direction. As if it didn't want to be matted down to his pale forehead.
"Goodbye." I whisper out the simple word before my vision goes black and white. I feel myself hit something hard, but it doesn't hurt. Everything comes back to me and I wake up in a panic.
I scream out in terror and my eyes shoot open looking around the place. My chest heaves up and down taking in deep gulps of air, something I haven't felt in a while.
I squint my black eyes and look around at the blurred scene around me. People of different ages and heights are gathered around me in a circle asking me questions and looking down at me with an odd expression on their faces.
"Are you okay dearie?" An old woman bends down from the little height she had and stretches out her bony hand. I slip my hand into hers and she helps me stand to my feet. "We found you unconscious on the street and saw that a villain had attacked you before you fell . We called the paramedics, but they haven't arrived yet."
"Where am I?" I place my hand on my throbbing head. Everything seeming brighter, and louder, and I feel . . . more aware of myself. "Who are you people? What am I doing here in the street?" I ask all these questions, but I don't receive any answers.
"I'm sorry child, but none of us know you personally." The old woman says. "Where do you live? Maybe I could walk you home." She suggests and I look around not recognizing any of the streets.
"I don't know where I live." I say honestly. "The only thing I know for certain is my name." I hug myself closer and try not to make myself seem out of place, even though I feel like I'm the only one here who seems lost. "I don't know where I am, who I am or what I'm doing here." I whisper to myself.
"I'm sorry dear, I wish I could help but if you don't know who you are I cannot." The old lady gives me a look sympathy.
"I'll take her home." A thick black shadow falls around me and the voice is so familiar it almost hurts to hear it. As if it's something of my past. I turn around and see a tall and muscular man standing in front of me. "For I am the symbol of peace and hope, and if this young lady does not remember who she is then who am I to leave her wandering the streets?" All Might chuckles loudly and the small crowd cheers and begins to thank him for his deed.
That's when I notice the red and blue lights flashing throughout the area along with the yelling of a villain and the blaring of sirens as they drove away from us.
I look back up at All Might and see a small trickle of blood dripping from his chin. He grabs my waist and jumps to the top of a roof before I can do anything.
I hold onto his torso tightly and look over the city of Japan where the sun is high in the sky lighting the entire place like a firework show. Everything seems so real, but I know it isn't. Maybe I just hit my head hard, maybe I'm in a coma.
Before I can think of anything else, All Might sets me down on the roof of a large, and oddly familiar, building. He sets me down gently and only then do I realize, I'm wearing a tight blue long sleeved t-shirt and a pair of black leggings.
"Can you tell me your name young lady?" All Might's voice snaps me out of my trance.
"My name is . . ." I pause for a moment. If I was really in a coma, then I would possibly not want to remember the grim reaper dude. After a while I decide on my new name.
"My name is Athena, sir." I watch as a thin line of blood trickles down his chin. With my sleeve I reach up and dab it away. "You should really change back before you hurt yourself, after all you cut your time shorter every time you use your quirk." I say with a blank smile.
