You watched him interact with them with worry practically drowning in your eyes, along with fear and confusion. Three things you weren't used to feeling when it came to you ever loving, long-term and soft-hearted boyfriend Peter Parker. You were used to everything from love, adoration, acceptance and even shyness when he'd kiss you a little longer then usual, or hold your hand the entire walk home.

Because just two days ago your boyfriend had been by yours and Neds side, discussing his new Lego set and the next star wars movies and he seemed over the moon, even racing up to MJ with an unmistakable skip in his step as he explained that he'd got his grades up in chemistry and today- well today was much different. Your boyfriend was standing beside Logan Hunt and Daryl Morrison, laughing at jokes from Christy Mclain.

You had first wondered if the smile was fake and instead of making small, friendly talk, they were taunting him about his grades again or that fact that he lived with his Aunt before you saw the creases beneath his eyes and the way his top row of teeth showed through his lips. That was when you realised that it was entirely real and you were forgotten by the lockers, books in hand weighing you down as well as the worry that sunk into your chest. You not only felt weighed down by those two things but the red hoodie that belonged to him.

Earlier that day his eyes hadn't squinted as he laughed at your joke and he hadn't joined in Ned and Mj's annual debate about Roman history. Instead, he stared at his sketchpad and with one arm trying to cover his work, he scribbled new suit ideas and web shooter designs. He had even muttered a few things to Karen thanks to a small earpiece Mr Stark had previously installed so he could chat with her any time.

But that was the first day he'd pulled out his sketchpad during lunch because he had previously promised you that he wouldn't mix school and Spider-man, but then and there, watching him completely zoned out and drawing the spider-man symbol with a blunt pencil and tattered eraser you swore you asked yourself three times over if you had bored him. You felt sorrowful that he'd rather talk to a computer system then you, twiddling your thumbs that were usually touching the dorsal side of his hand by now.

You felt awkward, out of place even.

But it had been a week of Peter hanging out with that group before you started to notice changes. It was seven full days, the sixth day that included him going to a party that ended up with his drinking and showing up at your house at five am the next day (the seventh day) with a killer hangover and a mouth full of complaints. He told you how he danced and shouted the lyrics to songs he'd never heard before, nearly falling asleep on the front lawn

"Pete, that's underaged drinking!" You had scolded. "I didn't think you seemed like the type."

"Neither did I." He had told you, groaning as he moved too quickly. Peter was quick to down the painkillers you gave him, begging them to kick in before he lost it. His spider-senses only got rid of a certain amount of the pain.

Nonetheless, you took care of your dipshit of a boyfriend on that seventh day- for the morning at least, handing him painkillers, cold water, blankets, pancakes and everything else google told you would help with his hangover because your boyfriend was in pain and even in your state of worry and panic, you still didn't want to see him in pain.

Peter began to adapt to his new crowd, leaving your lunch table on the fourth day to sit with them telling you that Daryl needed help with Math but not once did you see any of them pull a textbook out, and every one of the pens in Peters chest pocket stayed in their place. You watched in concern and Ned and MJ did their best to distract you but even they were worried for their friend who only seemed distant lately, not even showing up for Wednesday movie night.
