Collab partner for this part: @hollyjollyholland on tumblr. It was such an honor to work with Cora for this, considering she's such a beautiful writer and an amazing friend. I had so much fun
Summary: Everyone has their way of showing love to their partner whether it be receiving gifts, quality time, words of affirmation, acts of service (devotion), and physical touch. This is: Words of affirmation.
Warnings: None, this is pure fluff.

Affirmation. According to Google, it was 'the action or process of affirming something.'
That could be affirming that yes, you want seconds of your aunt's famous mac n' cheese; or yes, you did accidently spend over one hundred dollars on clothing on black Friday– it could even affirm that yes, you were madly and goddamn deeply in love.
It was a small gesture, one that many would skip around and not take too much notice of. However, when the words slipped off of his tongue with such ease, you couldn't help but feel your heart flutter. Your feet felt light, as if you were floating, free-falling one might say, and you weren't scared of landing anywhere as you fell through the clouds in mind. You could only express it as love, being loved, something that before him you weren't sure if you had ever felt before.
"Babe? I noticed that you cleaned the bathroom and I just want to say thank you, you're amazing."
"I really appreciate you doing my laundry for me babe, thank you. What would I do without you?"
"Dinner was so lovely, darling, thank you."
They were all instances where Tom shared his love for you through words, kind and thoughtful as they were. They always came at the time you needed them most, when you felt the most vulnerable or unwanted—Tom always knew how to show you how much he cared about you, just the way that you need to be told.
He was always soft—always attentive and making sure you knew how much he loved you. Your phone would buzz to life at ungodly hours of the morning when he was away with work, a selection of texts appearing on the screen ranging from soft good mornings or even goodnights when he forgot about the time differences and gentle "I love you's", and accompanying them was a selection of pink hearts and a range of nicknames, from "darling" to "love".
They always made you through the smile, your eyes crinkling and straining from both your grin and trying to protect your sleep-filled eyes from the bright blue-ish light. Some mornings, he would send you an extra "you're so amazing, babe" along with his daily message. The words, even typed on a screen made you feel a similar way to when he said the same things.
Sometimes, if he was home and had to leave for meetings or the gym he'd leave brightly coloured sticky notes on the bedside table with a glass of ice water. The notes always ended with three x's and while it was nothing compared to him telling you the words in person, they still make your heart flutter and stomach churn.

"I really appreciate you making those cookies for me and my friends today. Haz said they were delicious and Z wants the recipe." He chuckles against your temple, eyes squeezing shut as he lightly breathes in the scent of your shampoo."You helped me, baby." You tell him, relaxing into his warm arms. Your back was pressed against his chest, legs tucked up on the couch. "More like ate the dough when I wasn't looking and distracted me by flicking flour my way but that's fine."
He hums, chest rumbling as he laughs lightly. "You looked cute with flour stains on your shirt." Your boyfriend leans down, placing his lips on your own for a gentle– yet equally exhausted kiss. You both took in each other for a small moment, the warmth of the others arms and butterflies produced just from being this close. He pulls away with a sly smile. "You still taste like the cookie dough."
