Naomi's perspective
The knife tears through the air towards Lark.
"No!" I scream as Lark turns just in time to see the knife before it hits her shoulder and leaves a huge cut. She falls to the ground and Austin runs over to her. I see that Ever is out of knives and too far from the wall to grab another weapon in time. I sprint towards her and tackle her to the ground. She lands on her back and I sit on top of her, pinning her hands using my feet.
"Get off of me!" Ever shouts.
"NO! You hurt Lark and Austin!" I scream. Ever struggles to free herself but I hold her down. Crystal comes up with a syringe and injects Ever with the pale blue liquid. She goes limp and I stand up.
"I don't want to put her in a cell or tie her down because that's what they did in the GD but she can't just be free like this." Crystal says, kneeling beside Ever and brushing the hair off her forehead.
We decide to put her in the hospital room that I was in when I got hurt. I think back to when the bullet hit my arm, how Austin stayed with me until we left. I put my hand over the scar where I had been hit. Even though I am wearing my suit, it still feels like everyone can see it and is staring. The doctors put Ever on the bed and decide to at least tie her arms at her sides. She could untie them if she tried, and she probably would, but I wasn't going to be there when she broke free. I leave the room and go find Lark in the next room over. She is passed out on the bed. She has a large bandage wrapped around her shoulder.
"Hello Naomi!" The doctor says as she gets up from the computer.
"Hey," I say as I walk in. I sit on the side of Lark's bed and brush the small bits of hair that hang over her face away and watch her. Even in pain, even in sleep, Lark still has that cute smile on her face. She was so delicate. I wondered what it must have felt like to be taken away from her family and her sister and be tossed into the woods without anyone to help her.
Lark shifts a small bit and opens her eyes slowly.
"Naomi!" She says, her eyes bright.
"Hey, Lark." I say, smiling "How are you feeling?"
She shrugs. "I could feel better. How am I supposed to use my bow if my shoulder is hurt?" She asks
"Let it heal. Then practice." I say
"Okay..." She says quietly. She looked tired so I left so she could sleep. I found myself going to the stairs that lead to the roof. I get up and sit on the ledge. I gaze out at the setting sun and wonder where Lark's sister is.
Suddenly, I feel a pair of arms wrap around me. I jump and look over my shoulder. I meet that familiar pair of blue eyes and smile at Austin.
"Hey," I say as Austin releases me and sits on the ledge next to me. I lean my head on his shoulder and he grabs my hand. We watch the sun set and the stars come out.
We sit in silence for awhile and watch the streets down below. I pull up my hood because I didn't want anyone to look up and see me. Also because my neck is cold.
"What do you think the chances are that we will find Lark's sister?" Austin asks.
"I think we can find her, but getting out alive and unharmed is another story." I say looking at the cars and people passing by below us.
Our bracelets beep and we look at each other.
"It's Crystal." I say. Austin nods and looks at the message; Armory. Now!
And with that, we are running down the stairs.
Austin's perspective
We tear down the stairs at a pace that has to be far from safe. We sprint into the armory and find Crystal making notes and drawing all over the whiteboard.
"Good. You're here. Dallas and Sasha are on their way. Take a seat." Crystal says as she turns around. We do as she say. Dallas and Sasha come in and sit with us.
"I figured it out. Where Terra is. She is in the GD but, in a location where nobody would have thought." Crystal says, pointing at different notes and drawings on the whiteboard that were too messy and quickly drawn to make much sense of but I got the idea; Sister, GD, Rescue, Complicated. This would not be like anything we had ever done.
"Now, I do realize that we are down a person because of lark's... Situation." Crystal says, clearing her throat before saying 'situation'.
"So that is why we are bringing Ever into this. Naomi tenses as her name is said. Almost as if it hurts to hear. I bring my hand up to my face where I had been cut. I had a feeling that the cut would scar.
"Now, before you say anything, I just want to say that yes, Ever is dangerous, but, I think our doctors can develop a treatment to help her feel a bit more safe and comfortable here- to help her feel less like she needs to hurt us. Now, this will involve giving her access to weapons. So I would advise to stay away from her when she has weapons until the actual mission." Crystal explains.
"That's suicide." Dallas calls as he leans back slightly in his chair.
"I realize that." Crystal snaps.
"So why are you doing it?" Dallas asks
"Because we want to make Lark happy. That little girl, her family was taken from her and she has nobody. She deserves to have her sister." Crystal replies.
"But Ever?" Dallas questions
"We want to make lark happy. If this is the only way, I will find a way to make it work. Whether you help, or not." Crystal shouts.
"Whatever. I can't deal with this right now." Dallas says, getting up and leaving the room. Crystal sighs.
"Well, where were we?" Crystal asks, flicking a few stray hairs that had fallen from her messy bun, out of her face.
"You were talking about treating Ever." Sasha says
"Oh, right. So anyway, I think that with the right equipment, we can help Ever and save Terra."
"When do we begin?" Naomi asks
"Tomorrow. You can all sleep here. Tomorrow, we will be up early. Sasha, you are smart. I want you in the lab to help the doctors, Dallas will be training in the helicopter if I can convince him, Naomi, you will be in the shooting range and Austin, you will be helping Lark practice her bow and arrow. Okay?" Crystal asks, pointing to each of us as she says our names.
"What will you be doing?" Sasha asks.
"I will be coming up with a strong plan and designing special weapons for everyone." Crystal says. We all get up and leave the room. Crystal goes to her desk and pulls out her large sketchbook.
"I need to send some people to the GD. Try and see if they are using Terra for anything." Crystal mutters to herself as I look back.
I decide to keep walking when I hear footsteps pause in the doorway.
"I could go to the GD, Crystal." I hear a low, familiar voice say. I turn around and see Jeremy standing in the doorway.
