Beneath the Eyes

Chapter 7

          People were all over the place trying to get to the "court room" you could call it. Lizzy was basically dragging me to the doors. I didn't want to go in. Before I could try to escape Lizzy's iron grip Vanessa ran up to us. She gave Lizzy I dirty look, which made Lizzy growl.

          "Hey Vanessa", I said.  "How are you doing now"?

          "Same, I have been trying to avoid my father", she said.  "I was wondering though if I could sit beside you"? She gave me her famous puppy dog face and I couldn't help but cave in.

          "Alright you can sit with us", I smiled big at her, while taking her arm.

          "What!", Lizzy yelled.  "I am not sitting beside miss I think I am all that". Vanessa growled this time and stepped forward. I blocked her not wanting a fight to break out.

          "Lizzy please", I gave her a warning glare. She looked back and forth, then she threw her hands up in the air and said,

          "Fine but I am not sitting beside miss prissy that's for sure". She stalked into the room. Vanessa muttered under her breath,

           "Bitch", which made Lizzy stop where she was. Her hands started clenching and the next thing I know she flung Vanessa across the yard, away from the court room. Vanessa punched and kicked Lizzy back making her fly farther away. I ran intending on stopping them but guards started to come in a second along with councillor John. I stopped where I was.

            "What the hell", he yelled grabbing both Lizzy and Vanessa by the necks. He flung one to one guard and the other to the second guard.

             "Put them in my room and lock the doors", he instructed the guards. "and until they learn to behave themselves they will stay there until the meeting is over". Both guards nodded and pulled them away. Councillor John turned towards me and walked me to the court room.

            "Come on Courtney the meeting is about to start", he said and when we were inside, the doors closed.

              Everybody stopped talking when they saw councillor John. The other kingdom was sitting up next beside councillor John. They were talking amongst themselves. Councillor John coughed into his hand and the other kingdom turned around.

             "May I introduce Courtney Star", his voice boomed through the room. One of the men that is, I suppose to be the vampire representative of the other kingdom, gasped. He stood up so quickly he knocked his chair over. I wasn't paying attention to him, no I was looking for LeAnn to see if she was alright. When I didn't see her up on the balcony were the 12 representatives of each creature were, I looked up front where the man that had knocked down his chair was looking at me, face paler then a normal vampire.

               "Courtney", he said quietly moving to the stairs and went down them. He walked over to where I was.

               "Um... yes sir but my friends call me Court", I said that last part with a smile, stretching my hand out. He looked at it for a second and before I knew it he pulled me in for a big hug. I start patting him awkwardly on the back as I didn't know what else to do. He pulled away tears brimming his eyes and that's when I see the resemblance between him and me.

               He had black hair cropped to his ears, his eyes blue as ice and was a little tanner then a vampire. That's when it hit me but I had to ask anyway.

               "Who are you?", I asked softly looking him in the eyes. I saw my aunt and brother fly their way down quickly.

               "Councillor John I don't think she is ready", my aunt whispered fiercely. The man in front of me whipped his head around and bared his fangs.

               "Rebecca, she needs to know, we can't keep her in the dark forever", he said heatedly.

                "Know.....what?", I asked. The man put both his hands on my shoulder, looked me in the eye and told me the one thing I didn't want to know.

                "I am your biological father".
