Beneath the Eyes

Chapter 1

     I am running and running. Everywhere I turn, everywhere I go, there is only darkness. It's all around me. I feel like it is closing in on me. I wonder if my life will always be like this? All there is in this darkness is me and eternity. It's haunting me. I know it wont leave me alone. People don't know what it's like to be immortal. They would take it in a heartbeat, but it's not all what it is cracked up to be. Everyday I deal with the pain thats inside of me. It burns through my soul. I have seen things that you couldn't possibly imagine. I see the ones' I love die right in front of my eyes. They grow old when I haven't at all. I stand there watching them die. I know it's not fair, because I will never see them again even in death. At times, I just want to die with them go where they go. For my heart and soul to give out, so I won't have to bear the pain anymore.

                My eyes snap open. I keep walking through the forest. I find a good tree a sink down to the ground. The memories flood right back in. The memory of pain starts to sweep through inside my body. I am six-hundred and one years old, and just to tell u life goes goes by in a blink of an eye in my world. I don't even know what the outside world looks like anymore. Even though I can't see it I feel the world start to wither, and die, leaving me behind. Finally, the tears break through, and I taste the saltiness of them. I plead silently to the earth and world for me to be mortal. Knowing that I will never get that kind of life.

       I finally get my emotions in control, I get up, and start to walk back to my house. I try to ignore the memories but somehow I can't. It's stuck in my head like glue. It keeps torturing me. Sorry before I continue to blab I should tell your the beginning of it all. First off, I am not your average teenage girl. That your could of probably told from me blabbing before, but anyway. The stories you have heard of about vampires, werewolf's, fairies etc. Well to put it to you like this I am a fairy and in my kingdom all those paranormal creatures exist, and even more. Some of which are nice ( or at least try to be) and then you have the God awful ones. These are the ones you try to stay away from, they are mostly the vampires, shocker to you there. I mean some are respectful, but most of the time they can't control their demons inside of them. That is what makes them lust for blood so much. Human blood is the best to them, but since we can't go into the mortal world anymore they food off of the creatures in the kingdom. Don't worry we don't die we are just unconscious for a certain amount of time. My best friend Lizzy is a vampire but refuses to do what her demon is screaming for her to do. We have been best friends since we were six. Imagine how long thats been, I feel so old thinking about it. Though that was also the time my mom died ( I will get to the part on how she dies latter, very important). So, now my mother's older sister, auntie dearest, takes full care of us. My older brother, Matthew and I, hate every minute of it. All our aunt does is push the limits for us to think she is our mother.

       Just almost outside the woods I hear growling behind me, deep in the trees. I slowly turn around; before I know it a huge form leaps out of the trees and pushes me to the ground, bearing it's teeth. It turns to go for my neck and of course that's when I squeal out  "don't". While I screamed I recognized those deep blue eyes. It stops, recognizing my voice; it freezes and so do I. It jumps off of me while glowing and the next thing I know Jake is standing in front of me. He is my other best friend though I have known him longer than Lizzy, say when we were babies. He sticks out his hand and helps me up off the ground. We are both breathing heavy, standing a few distances apart.

      "What the hell do you think you are doing here Courtney, I almost killed you"! Jake said his deep voice vibrating through my whole body. I straightened up and pointed a finger at him.

        "I was just taking a walk that's not a crime and nothing happened till you attacked me."

        I wanted to say more but kept my mouth shut. I didn't want o push my limits with him. He took a deep breath trying not to lose his temper.
