chapter 3
BETTY COOPER
"V come on! You need to be rational right now!" I shouted persuadingly towards Veronica, as we got out of the car and started to walk towards the place we had been not even half an hour earlier; Pop's.
"Screw rationality, that idiot isn't gonna get away with this," V replied, pain seeping through her voice as she slipped into a booth and I sat down opposite her.
"One double chocolate and one vanilla milkshake please," I ordered as Pop had been following closely behind as we came in.
"I mean why would he do this to me? I really thought he loved me..." she said, trailing off, tears threatening to spill from her eyes.
"Look, V. This sucks. I know that. And he won't get away with this, but for right now, we are going to play to our strengths. He doesn't know that we know about this, which gives us an advantage. If we're smart, we can play it that he will feel as much pain as you do right now," I explained, trying to remain sensitive to Veronica's feelings, whilst also talking about a takedown of my now ex-childhood best friend.
I noticed her look at me and take a gulp before speaking. "Okay," she said, seeming to be regaining her natural air of confidence.
"Okay."
ARCHIE ANDREWS
"Look dude," Jug says, stopping me before we go into the Whyte Wyrm, "I need to know you're not going to do anything stupid."
"Stupid like what?"
"Like cheat on Veronica! Because even if you don't mean to, nd it happens, I'm the one that will get killed."
"I promise you, I just wanna check out the nightlife here. I don't plan on doing any of that shit that you do. I promise," I pleaded, wanting Jug to let me in.
"Fine, but if you screw up you're out." We walked inside the club, and found it to be pretty busy for a small town. There was some music playing faintly in the background and a bar stretching all across the length of the bar. I stood there, taking it all in for a moment.
"Take it all in, have fun... just don't fuck up," Jug said, slapping me on the back before walking off into the crowd. I decided to go and get a drink at the bar, and just sat there for a minute, taking in everything that Jug gets to experience everyday, that he rules over. Suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted by a girl coming over to talk to me.
"Hey," she says, sitting on the stool next to me. She was sporting a plain white tank top tucked into a short black denim miniskirt, paired with black high heels and her serpent jacket.
"Hi there," I respond simply.
"You look like it's your first time here."
"Is it that obvious?" I asked laughing.
"Don't worry, I'll show you a good time," she says, placing her delicate hand on my shoulder. I look over at it, then look up at her. Her eyes are full of lust, and in that moment I know that I have a decision to make, and it a dilemma I never thought I would see myself in. But, at the end of the day, who other than Jughead knows I'm here, so if I decide to have that kind of fun... who would know. I take her hand and lead her over to one of the empty couches. Once we've sat, she crosses her legs, and angles them towards me. Momentarily distracted by this, I clear my throat and look up at her instead of her legs, starting to speak.
