the time felt like ages as sooyoung sat in the hospital room while she waited for yerim to finish with the tests that she had to take. she would constantly look back at the time, only to find out that a few seconds had just gone by. she hated feeling uneasy, especially when it involved someone else.
"miss park sooyoung?" the doctor asked as he entered the room.
"ah, yes? is she okay?" sooyoung asked with full intent.
"she's okay. but, i just want to ask some questions. is that okay?"
"yes, it's fine." sooyoung agreed as she nodded.
"have you ever seen her prior to today?"
"no, i just met her earlier today."
"do you know of anything that may have been traumatic or upsetting to her?"
"could it be about that sorim girl?" sooyoung began to think. wanting to help, she instantly said, "well... yes, but i'm not too sure about it."
"oh, so she has told you about it. it seems that the pain has come back to her- as if something had triggered it to return."
sooyoung was taken aback by his conclusion. "did i trigger her? because i look like the sorim girl?"
"don't worry, it's nothing serious. just watch her, please. it seems that she suddenly reminded herself of her past pain, so she fell into another depression. we gave her some pills, but be careful, she tends to hurt herself sometimes. watch over her, please."
sooyoung nodded at the man in front of her.
"you're free to leave. please escort her home and watch her."
"yes." sooyoung softly said as she saw yerim sitting in the waiting room. she approached the startled girl and held out her hand. "hey, let's go to your house now. i'll take you there."
yerim shook her head in disagreement and began to get pouty with sooyoung.
"yerim-ah, please?" sooyoung practically begged.
after a while, yerim scoffed and got up from the chair and began walking towards the exit. sooyoung sped fast to get near the girl, wanting to casually make small talk. "where do you live? i can take you home."
"aren't going to call your friend again? i don't want to disturb anyone else. leave me alone. i can walk home." yerim snapped back.
"i'll walk with you!" sooyoung exclaimed as she stood in front of yerim, making her stop in her tracks.
"leave me alone, sorim unnie." the younger girl said as she pushed past sooyoung.
"but i'm not sorim..." sooyoung thought in her head. she figured that the best thing she could do to yerim was slowly walk behind her without saying anything. after all, she just wanted to help the girl- to finally prove to herself that she could take care of someone else after she failed to take care of her little sister.
the walk to yerim's house was extremely long. but, it didn't matter to sooyoung. in fact, she wasn't exhausted at all. she was just happy to finally reach the younger girl's destination.
yerim turned around to face sooyoung, making the older girl flinch as she did not expect it. "i know that you've been following me. if you're already here, just come inside." yerim started, as she walked closer to her house.
sooyoung didn't expect that either. she quietly nodded and said a quick "thanks" under her breath.
yerim took out her keys and walked inside of her house, revealing her two younger sisters playing around and her parents making dinner.
