The ride to the ER was quiet. Maisie was looking out of the window the whole time and Owen didn't want to disturb her.

When they arrived, Owen couldn't help the way he exhaled deeply. The ER was filled to the rim and it didn't look like there were any seats available. He swallowed thickly and forced himself to take it like a grown man. It was Maisie who was hurt after all.

"Hey Mais, come here" He said and reached an arm out for her to hold onto. They found a spot by the wall that wasn't occupied by people leaning against it. They hadn't even been standing there for a minute, before Maisie had to sit down on the floor. Her ankle was too bad and leaning all her weight on one foot was simply not working. Owen didn't even look her way twice, when she started sliding down the wall beside him. He had expected her to fall down on the floor immediately.

After they had 'signed in' the receptionist said that it could be up to six hours before it was their turn. Owen swore he could see Maisie fall apart inside, by that fact. Luckily, two people had been called in as they were at the counter and there was a couple seats empty, which Owen was quick to snatch.

"I should probably call mom, tell her we won't be home for a while" He said, pulling out his phone. Maisie nodded and let her head fall against Owen's shoulder.

After a couple of hours had gone by, still without it being their turn, both of them were running out of patience. "I'm hungry" Maisie half whispered beside Owen. He sighed, realizing he himself could use some food. "Alright stay here, I'll go find a vending machine or something" And with that, he got up and disappeared into the crowd. All of a sudden, Maisie felt alone again. Just like earlier and she didn't like it one bit. Thankfully, it didn't take Owen more than five minutes, before he returned with some chocolate and a couple bags of chips. He sat down beside her again and they both dug into the food.

After another couple of hours, it had starting getting pretty late and Maisie was trying to stop herself from falling asleep on Owen's shoulder, every five minutes. He had noticed but decided to leave her to it. If she fell asleep it would be fine, but maybe she didn't like sleeping in public. But then again, who did.

Half an hour later, Maisie had finally given up and was asleep, her body nestled up against Owen's, with his arm around her. A nurse came out and told them to follow her. Maisie woke up all disoriented and confused, before she found out, that her being in the hospital, wasn't just a dream.

They followed the nurse, Maisie humping by Owen's side, who had an arm around her. All Maisie wanted, was to get her foot looked at and then go home and sleep. She was still a bit hungry but honestly, all she wanted was her comfy bed and the hallway they were currently making their way down, seemed like it would never end.

Eventually they came to a stop and the nurse asked Maisie to get up on the bed she gestured to.

After x-ray and examinations and what not, they found out that her ankle was sprained. The nurse told them that she was going to put a small cast on, to help the healing, especially since Maisie's bones weren't fully grown yet. When all of that was over, Maisie felt like she could fall asleep standing up.

They made it to the car and Maisie fell asleep in under a minute. On the way home, Owen went through a MacDonald's drive through, because he was starving and Claire most likely didn't want to bother with making food just for her, so nothing would be waiting. Also, because she would probably assume that he was going to do exactly what he ended up doing. He ordered a bit for both Claire and Maisie as well, in case they wanted some. He didn't wake Maisie up though. If he was lucky enough, he could carry her upstairs and put her to bed without waking her.

When they arrived at home, Claire was waiting outside on the bench beside the door, on the porch. Owen was surprised to see her face waiting there for them, seeing as he was pretty sure she would have gone to sleep by now. He parked the car and got out in the time it took Claire to walk to him. She wrapped her arms around his middle and reached up for a kiss which he gladly returned. His eyes remained closed even after they departed and he smiled down at her with a tired look in his eyes.

Claire reached her hand up to caress his cheek and asked. "So?" He sighed and said. "Sprained ankle. She fell asleep as soon as I started the car" Claire smiled up at him with a sympathetic look, before leaning to the side to look at Maisie. "There's food in the passenger seat, if you're hungry" He said. She smiled up at him and patted his chest a couple times before moving around the car to get the bag.

In the meantime, Owen got Maisie out of the car without waking her and Claire was quick to clear the way in the form of doors. Pulling the blankets back on Maisie's bed, before Owen laid her down. He walked down to eat some more of the food, while Claire changed the girl's clothes.

When she returned, she found him sleeping on the couch, half sitting up. She considered just leaving him there. Maybe lay him down a bit more and put a blanket over him, but he woke up as soon as she put a finger on him. "Hey" She whispered with a small smile on her lips, as she bent down in front of him. He ran he his hand over his face and then through his hair. Claire tilted her head at him before speaking. "Let's get you to bed" Whispering it right in front of his face, to make as little noise as possible. He nodded tiredly and grabbed her outreached hand before standing up, like his legs refused to carry him any longer.

They made it upstairs, to the bedroom and Owen sat down on his side of the bed, instantly. Almost falling over out of exhaustion. She bent down to pull his pants off, which he helped with by quickly standing up for half a second. She got the rest of his clothes off, leaving him in his boxers, before she pulled the covers away under him. He got in under them quicker than ever.

She stared at him for a second, smiling down at him. Quickly joining him after she got rid of her own clothes and put on a pair of his old boxers and a tank top.

Even though he fell asleep instantly, he still turned around to wrap his arms around her, when she came to lay next to him.

Caring Claire hehe.

Don't have much to say really...
