I was deeply touched by his words. I would not have thought that the Doctor was possible of such fury. He always acted so composed and even if he let his emotions show you could only catch a short glimpse and they were under control. It was the first time he had had such an outburst in the time I was with him, which – mind you – was not even that long.
I was fading in and out of consciousness. My forehead hurt so much, but when I went to touch it I found I could not move my hand much. The slightest movement caused my sight to blacken.
The next thing I sensed was a something cold that softly touched my forehead. It was enough to jolt me up.
"We are not under attack." The Doctor looked slightly amused, while I just stared at him blankly.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I questioned.
He shook his head. "Nothing of importance."
He moved his hand as if to touch me. I instinctively put more space between us.
"What do you want to do?" I asked him warily.
"Well, first of, I have to cleanse your wound. Then I am going back to finding a cu..." He stopped.
"What are you going to find?" I narrowed my eyes at him.
He averted his eyes and replied. "It does not matter." He stood up and went to the door, while I struggled to stand on my feet.
"You wanted to say cure, didn't you?" I accused him.
He stopped in his tracks and turned his head. "And if so?"
"I thought you wanted to punish the aliens?!" I snapped back at him, avoiding the obvious elephant in the air.
He just sighed and went down the corridor while I followed stomping.
"Sit." He pointed to the bench I had my first awakening on.
I obeyed. "Now, are you going to answer my questions?"
"If you hold still and shut up, while I cleanse that nasty wound?" He returned my question with a question.
I gaped at him. Did he really just tell me to shut up?
He stepped closer to me with a nasty looking solution in his hand. I was astonished at how fast he had whipped it up.
"Maybe you should close your mouth. I do not think you want things in there that do not belong there..."
I closed my mouth and glared at him icily.
He dabbed the solution a cotton ball and pressed it on my forehead. Harder than necessary.
"Ouch!" I bit down on my lip while increasing the ice in my gaze.
As he finished up, I began to touch my forehead. It itched too much. He slapped my hand away.
"Don't you touch that!"
I pulled away, but my finger was blue.
"What is this?" I screeched.
"Your blood." I went to say something, but he cut me off. "It is part of the poisoning process, nothing to worry about."
I cocked an eyebrow at him but I did not reply.
Instead I stood up and went to study the dashboard. Some of the switches I recognized, but some were unfamiliar.
I went to touch a flip I recognized, but before I could a hand snatched my wrist.
"Don't you dare touch my TARDIS!" His eyes smoldered, which caused my eyes to narrow.
"Did not peck you as one of those macho men that don't allow women to touch their cars."
"You cannot compare those tiny mobiles to my TARDIS." He paused to shot me a dark glare. "Besides, you do not know anything about it."
"What makes you so sure of that?" I sent the glare right back at him while continuing our banter. "I bet I know some things that you do not know about your precious TARDIS."
"No, you don't! You are only a puny, little human. And a German!"
"Only a puny, little human?" I could not help but laugh at him. "What did you expect when you dragged me in here? That I turn out to be another one of your race that has forgotten her origins? We are on Earth and in Germany, for fuck's sake. What did you expect?"
"You are right. I should have known that I would land in such a little town filled with ignorant humans with a low intelligence quotient. But what did I expect? Aliens invading a school? Sadly I am sorely disappointed. It seems there are no aliens in your school, just your little human friends and teachers controlled by alien technology. But you do not need me. So, if you do not mind..."
"What did you just say?" My voice was deadly quiet.
"Shall I add deaf to my little list of negative attributes I have of you? I said, maybe you are right...."
"Shut up." I snapped. "You do not have to answer if that bothers you. But I have the right to know what is going on here and what is happening with my friends!" With each word I stepped closer to him until we stood nose to nose, even though he looked down at me.
I stared defiantly back up at him.
"The same friends you just said goodbye to? I thought you were so selfish you would not care about them!" He sneered at me.
Tears shot into my eyes.
"Now look at that. The human is short for crying..."
I gritted my teeth.
"You shut up." I hissed. "You think yourself so superior to me. But it was you, who promised to me that they would not get involved with that shit – and now they are in danger. I thought you" I spat the word you out and peeked my finger into his chest.
"You, the almighty Time Lord, would stand to your own fucking word. But seems I was sorely mistaken. And before you say anything else, I might not know your TARDIS, but I sure as hell know some things more than you. And for fuck's sake, next time you steer the TARDIS, do not pull the brakes – then the TARDIS would be a lot more quiet!"
He was quiet. But then a smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
I narrowed my eyes even more. Then, I pulled back my arm to throw a punch at him.
"You..." I seethed at him.
And then I threw my punch. Just to be stopped short before his chest. His fingers curled around my wrist.
"Well, won't you look at that..." He tilted his head from one side to the other. "Someone has a little temperament there. And she cares..."
Realization dawned. "That was just a fucking ploy to rile me up?!" I frowned. "But then, you would not have let slip that part about my school and my friends...What makes me wonder, what else do you hide from me?"
"Now, do you mind clearing that all up?"
He looked at me and sighed.
"You were right. I did not mean to let it slip...and I think it is time for you to finally get the whole picture..."
