I haven't heard from Gino in four days, and today is Friday. I texted him one morning and he never replied, yet I saw that he read the message. I honestly didn't expect him to call. Yes, maybe I'm acting insecure but that's how I feel. I wasn't expecting him to chase me, because honestly, he's a grown ass man that's got his shit together while I'm just now about to handle my shit. Whoever was calling him back to back really needed his attention. It could of been his wife or kids for all I know, and he was just lying to me all along.

I can't be stuck on him as I'm finally close to my school program, and get started building my dream to leave this place behind.

I was currently at my school campus buying the books I needed for my program that starts on Monday. Even though I have money enough saved up to pay for my tuition, I don't know how but financial aid is still sending me money so of course me being cheap and smart I'm using financial aid to pay for these books and supplies while I'm saving the money that I have since I won't be working a lot.

"Your total is $555.78 love." The cashier told me as I handed her my school id to swipe. After she gave me back my school id I walked out a little happy knowing I'm a step closer to my journey.

My phone begins ringing telling me that a call is coming in.

"Hey Cat." I greet her.

Cat's been contacting me more ever since she told me about her pregnancy and how she's over with her boyfriend Drew. I don't judge, but I have a feeling Drew is coming back in the picture soon the way she's been talking and acting. As much as I highly dislike Drew, Drew has a weird way of showing Cat how much he loves her.

"Hey boo, are you free?"

"Now I am, what's up?"

"My brother going to the little park to play ball, I'm bored and I was wondering do you want to come with us?"

"I'm at the school campus if you can pick me up."

"Sure, we're at the light right by the campus, come outside." She told me and the line went off.

I waited outside for them as I heard a honk behind me. I grab my things and walk over to their car.

"Amerie, baby girl what's up?"

"Hey Kevin, it's been so long since I've seen you." I told him as I offer him a small smile.

Kevin is one of my brother's best friend.

I don't know if they still are, but I remember whenever I needed to know my brother where about I used to just asked him, and he'll tell me. Ever since my father passing he stop telling me my brother where about and replaced him telling me with instead I'm not in the position to tell you ma. It used to annoy me knowing I couldn't know where he was when I needed him so I gave up. I think Kevin at the time starting to see that I didn't bother asking anymore because he'll tell me from time to time my brother was good where he was.

"I know shorty you good? How's the family?"

"Yeah, I've been great. Family? they good."

I replied to him and his eyes automatic went straight to me as I look out the window. He knew my family wasn't good, but he decided to ask me anyway.

After that little conversation, the drive to the park was a little quite other than Cat and Kevin talking among themselves. This what I miss watching Cat and Kevin joking around. I miss my brother and I doing this, we were so close. I'll probably never understand why he left me by myself.
