When All Is Lost

When all is lost

I am done

I struggle to be whole

I find myself nowhere

Yet I am somewhere running

From nothing but myself

I can not move

But I twitch in the silence

I yell out

But it was only a whisper

Only loud enough

That it wasn't there

When sleep is not found

I dream of broken things

Like a mirror smashed

Glass that had fallen

Times that had been forgotten

Love that was forbidden

I can not hear

But the loudness is bringing death

I hear the roar

I hear the squeak

I hear the footsteps

That were never there

When the time has come

I was not prepared

I was already drowning

No one was a hero

I was battling alone

With millions of souls

But at last when the darkness comes

When all has happened

Had become my past

I cry out for somebody, nobody

And silence follows the noise

Me, myself, was the darkness that closed in
