Mr. Bojangles,
he dances above.
He clicks and he clacks,
but always with love.
He comes in the night,
when children do sleep,
and watches them closely
as they count their sheep.
He cannot be fought,
and no one can run,
when Mr Bojangles
decides he will come.
You must make a deal,
give him what he wants,
if you do not want,
to end up in a box.
Bojangles is cold,
his body too thin,
he floats through the night
in search of his skin.
No blanket's enough,
no bed is so warm,
to stop Bojangles
and his shivering form.
So find something tight
or find something snug,
so Mr Bojangles
won't give you a hug.
Else he'll slither inside
and then you will see,
that deep down he looks,
like you, and like me.
