I'm having so much fun writing this. Thanks so much for the feedback and don't worry I'm sure you'll get what you want by the end 😉
The next morning I wake up alive, thank god! I'm going home today so I don't have to worry about Bethany anymore. It's going to be bittersweet though, I'm looking forward to getting home, seeing my flatmates and going back to work because I really do love my job. But I'm really going to miss my family and the Flynns. Sometimes I really wish we were all still close together.
I'm all packed and ready to go so I decide to head downstairs for some breakfast. Lee and Lauren are sitting at the table when I walk in.
"Still breathing I see," says Lauren.
"Probably only because I actually locked my door last night."
"Did you really?"
"Yes Lee, you didn't see the way she looked at me yesterday. Then when Noah called her a bitch I thought she was going to spontaneously combust!""Oh to be a fly on the wall in their hotel room last night," Lee says.
"Ick! no thanks, they probably had make up sex all night," Lauren decides to add.
Well, thank you, Lauren, for putting that awful image in my head.
"Lauren, what's the worst thing you've ever seen in your life?""Um, probably a pig being slaughtered on my uncle's farm when I was a kid, gave me nightmares for months, why?" She looks at me a little confused.
"Thanks, I just needed a more pleasant image to replace the one of Noah and Bethany in my head."
Lee gives me a grossed outlook.
"That is so wrong on so many levels Elle."
I give him a cheeky grin and shrug."Anyway, onto a more agreeable subject. We have decided to move the wedding to the end of summer on the second of September. We feel like the original date is just too soon after losing Dad. Do you think you can make it back then?"
"Fair enough and don't worry about work I have plenty of holidays owing. Getting time off in the Fall is a piece of cake. Even Bethany couldn't keep me away, if she's still around of course," I say laughing at my own joke. Then I notice Lee and Lauren looking behind me trying not to laugh.
"She's standing right behind me isn't she?"
I turn and see Bethany in the doorway.
"Such a shame you have to go home today Shelley!"
The sarcasm is clearly evident in her voice."Isn't it though! I'm going to miss you the most Beth," I say, throwing that sarcastic tone right back at her.
"Oh well, I'll just have to console myself in Noah's arms."
Ouch! That one stung!
Then behind me, Lee says, "Oh NO she didn't!"Two can play at that game.
"Well enjoy it while it lasts then honey. Isn't Noah surrounded by hot chicks all day long, better not miss a gym session, don't wanna be replaced now do we!"
And with that, I make a dramatic exit past her and out the door because in situations like these you have to walk off for dramatic effect. Can't have her getting in the last word. When I'm out of the kitchen I smile to myself then I look up and notice Noah standing there.
"Getting pretty feisty there in your old age," he says smiling at me.
"And your taste in women has taken a turn for the worst in your old age. But I suppose once you've had the best, nothing else really compares and when I say best, I mean me!" I say giving him a cheeky grin. With that, he bursts out laughing.
"How was I ever worthy of such perfection?" he says still laughing.
"One of life's many mysteries," I reply.
We stand there smiling at each other.
"I've missed this, remind why we didn't stay in touch."
Well for me it hurt too much seeing him with the redhead, but I'm not going to tell him that."I guess we just got too busy, then as time went on it just became; I don't know...........awkward!"
"How about from now on we make an effort. I've already decided I need to see and talk to mom and Lee on a regular basis and I'd like to include you in that as well. After all, we are pretty much family."
"I'd really like that Noah."Suddenly I hear Bethany behind me,
"Noah babe, breakfast is ready."
Her voice trying to sound all sexy and seducey.
Ick, she makes me want to gag! Ah, damn it! I realise I forgot to eat breakfast. Well, I ain't going back in that kitchen, not for all the tea in China."I'll leave you to it then," I say to Noah and head back to my room. May as well double-check to make sure I haven't forgotten to pack anything, I think I might have a chocky bar in my bag too.
Before I know it it's time to head to the airport. I give June and Lauren a massive hug each, then turn to see Noah standing behind me with Bethany nowhere in sight. He must notice me look around for her.
"Don't worry she went back to the hotel, going on about a headache or something."
I can't help but laugh.
"Good luck with that."
He smiles and then picks me up and gives me a bone-crushing hug and whispers in my ear,
"Thanks again for yesterday, I'm going to miss Dad like crazy but you really helped me with the guilt I was feeling. That really means a lot to me."He gives me a kiss on the cheek and puts me down and I smile up at him.
"Anytime and don't forget, no more of this no communication business ok, and if you find yourself ever wanting to visit London my door is always open."I say my final goodbyes to Mrs Flynn, Lauren and Noah, then Dad, Brad and Lee take me to the airport to see me off.
