As I look out at the beautifully manicured gardens, I find myself thinking back over this last year and a bit.
So much has happened........The day after the INCIDENT we had a good chat with Bethanys Father.
He was really nice and so apologetic, the poor guy blamed himself, saying they moved around a lot for his job in the US military. He said she struggled to make friends all her life and that as soon as she would start to make solid friendships they would move. She eventually stopped trying to get to know people.
He thanked us profusely for not calling the police and said he would get his daughter the help she needed.
A few months later he rang Noah to tell him that she had moved back home to West Virginia and gone back to school.
The last I heard she had finished her degree in early childhood education, which she had dropped out of a few years prior and is now teaching at fancy pre-school and is dating one of the widowed fathers.
I actually wish her the best, after finding my happily-ever-after all I want is for everyone else to find there's, in whatever form it takes.Renee was going to come to Chicago with me but after things started to get serious with Chad she decided to stay put in London rather than make any hasty decisions she would regret later.
Which was so unlike Renee, I almost thought she was starting to become a proper grown-up.
They ended up visiting her family over the Christmas break last year and Chad loved it so much they ended up moving to New Zealand a couple of months later.
We video chat every week and Noah and I are going to visit them in a few weeks. I'm so excited, I can't wait!So I ended up in Chicago on my own, well except for Dad and Brad of course. I stayed with Dad for a few weeks before getting my own place, which made Noah's visits so much more enjoyable. Making out on the couch is so much more fun when you don't have to worry about your dad walking in at any moment.
I see them every week and I gotta say I love it, being back with my family has been awesome. I don't feel guilty or like I'm missing out anymore and I've gotten to know dad's girlfriend Meredith really well too. We do something girly together every month, it's been so long since I've had that motherly figure in my life that I didn't realise how much I really missed it and she makes my dad happy which makes me love her even more. There's even talk about her moving in with him.
Brad is even taller now and has a new girlfriend Chantelle, she's French Canadian which has been super fun for me, we make fun of the others in French all the time and it drives them crazy especially Brad. He's in his last year at University now, I can't quite believe my baby brother is about to become a proper adult with a proper adult job and everything. I feel so old! Then there's me and Noah. When I moved to Chicago he stayed in New York.
While I was still living in London he came to visit me, we had so much fun doing the whole touristy thing that Noah came up with the idea one night to do a trip around the world. When he finished at Harvard he moved back home for a few weeks then on to New York and had only been to a handful of places outside of the U.S. during that time.
I thought it was a brilliant idea so we dated long distance for another six months after I moved home and since then we have been travelling the globe together and it has been amazing!
We went to South America, Russia, Parts of Asia, then through the Middle East and down to Africa. We are finishing up in Europe now and then we will spend a few more weeks down under in Australia and New Zealand before heading home in time for Christmas.
So here we are enjoying our last day in France before we head off to The Netherlands and then Scandinavia."Hey beautiful," Noah says wrapping his arms around me as I stand in front of a large window looking out at the stunning gardens at the Palace of Versailles. It's November and its a beautiful sunny day but it's freaking cold. So here we are all rugged up in our thick coats, scarfs and beanies.
Noah looks so hot!
"Shall we keep going or would you rather just stare at me all day?" He says with his oh so familiar smirk.
"Well I wouldn't be the only one," I say cheekily.
Where ever we go he seems to attract a lot of attention from the opposite sex.
I am used to it now but that doesn't mean I don't get sick of it!
"I wouldn't know, I only have eyes for my gorgeous, wonderful and sexy girlfriend," he says.
"You're such a suck-up," I say with a laugh.
"And anyway don't think I don't notice the guy's checking you out everywhere we go too. Not that I blame them, I do have the best looking girl around," he says with a wink.
"You're very full of compliments today, what did you do?" I say trying to look serious.
"Haha very funny, come on you goose I want to go see the iron throne."
"You mean the fictional one from the game of thrones, the one that doesn't actually exist?" I say shaking my head.
"Spoilsport!"
He grabs my hand and pulls me towards the door, he leads me through a few more rooms, down a beautiful ornate staircase and into a place called the hall of mirrors.
